navigation units
i drive alot.... i get lost alot... therefore i had the brilliant idea of gettting a nav unit. i want one portable so i can take it between saturn and camaro. i don't wanna spend more than 300. i'm leaning towards teh tomtom one. anyone have any input, otherwise i'm buying the tomtom solely based on the cool name.

i just got a new job and i get to use the magellan 7something..its great. it takes a min or 2 to get a signal once you turn it on but that might be because it gets beat to **** cuz the employees dont care about it. but its great!! never get lost!

There are several thousand points of interest, and you can save your own in custom groups (Family, friends, etc). You might have to look around a bit to find one, as they just released their next generation stuff (although the 320 does look very nice, it's more expensive). You can also talk to Barb - he has the same one. It's certainly not the best GPS on the market, but for the price I can't think of anything better. - Justin |
Be careful with touch screens. My tom tom go has a sensitivity issue and when I hit bumps sometimes esp. in the summer when it's hot and the screen seems to expand I get random TOUCHES where the screen starts jumping around and random buttons get pressed.
I don't know if it's just the unit I bought was defective but it's about 3 years old and extremely annoying. If I had to do it over again I'd skip the touch screen crap and get one that has easy to use buttons or something. |
I run the Magellan roadmate...something...it kicks ass, has a bazillion points of interest, allows you to save your own, touch screen, typically takes less than 1 minute to "find" itself, and has great battery life(more than 3 hours)
