im workin on tryin to figure out why won't idle. If it's the tune, timing, etc.. theres currently no trans attatched so maybe thats affecting it? let me know what you think.

Stock cam, or are you running the 231/237 cam?

- Justin

GrandmasterCow 05-14-2007 01:47 PM

the 213/237 cam. i dont have a cam card for my specs but what i know is its a TSP 231/237 .595/.598 112+4LSA cam. someone said timing so i might have to check that. i ran a couple diff tunes on it and still won't idle, even put stock TB and MAF on same thing, just wont hold a idle.

Will it stay on if you keep the throttle blades open a little?

Tru2Chevy 05-14-2007 01:51 PM

What idle speed is set in the tune?

Have you tried raising that to see if it would help?

my cam is 237/242 .603/.609 114, ported TB, and idled fine right away on stock tune(injector table changed and target idle speeds bumped up 200 rpms) so i dont think your cam is just the cause.

Tru2Chevy 05-14-2007 02:39 PM

Yea, when Bill had that cam his car started up instantly and held an idle just fine in park....

if ihld the throttle blade open itll barely hold still at whereeveri hold it to. once i crank it up w/o giving it any throttle it drops right away and dies not even 1 second after initial startup. i cant put the stock tune back on cuz the VCM editor won't open the .bin file saying OS/VIN mismatch (says that for a lot of my tunes for some reason suddenly).

I would contact support for HPTuners then, and figure out why you can't put the stock tune back in.

i feel like it has something to do with the injectors.

Batman 05-15-2007 03:32 PM

I had the same problem once and tracked it down to a vacuum leak at the T/B

GrandmasterCow 05-15-2007 03:36 PM

hmm checked injectors they seem fine, but i still put in a bottle of inj cleaner.
i also chjecked all vacuum lines and they're all attatched.
anyone think it might be because no tranny? im getting it on today definately then we'll see i guess.

yeah theres a bug in .18 that will give you an invalid vin/os mismatch on many 97/98 files because the vin isnt stored in the same spot in the pcm as later models. I can give you the newest beta or you can go back to .16 temporarily its up to you.

foff667 05-16-2007 08:23 PM

If you'd like you can post the tune & I can take a look at it, but make sure your TB blade actually has a hole in it...as I've seen that be an issue in some cases.

GrandmasterCow 05-16-2007 08:48 PM

yeah i can post the tune. the TB does have a hole in it. someone lost my two adjust screws though hah. i can post my tune

GrandmasterCow 05-16-2007 09:08 PM

my tune can be downloaded here: http://putstuff.putfile.com/80013/8351953
