Transmission Problems

Hey all, i keep getting this code:
[PCM] P0748 - Pressure Control Solenoid Circuit Electrical (Pending) (History) (Current) (Immature)

now i have a vacuum modulated 4l60e. Trans fluid is fine. I'm wondering if something happened when the trans has been sitting all these months. i don't have a trans temp gauge yet so i can't tell trans oil temps.

WildBillyT 06-06-2007 10:51 PM

Maybe this can help? Its for a transaxle, but you never know...

GrandmasterCow 06-06-2007 11:06 PM

hmm ill have to take a look at the wires tomorrow. i also found today that fluid levels are fine, but when put into any gear, even Reverse, wouldn't budge at all. now this tranny has been siting for 9 months i dont know if a tranny would go bad.

GrandmasterCow 06-07-2007 07:24 PM

does anybody know where the PCS is in the trans? i was told that I don't need that solenoid anymore because i have a vaccuum modulated 4l60e, but, nothing is different than it was before the car blew up back in september and now suddenly i'm throwing a code and the trans is not going into gears and when it was it started slipping badly.

GrandmasterCow 06-07-2007 08:52 PM

well i think i found it but i'm not sure. my vaccuum line for the modulator kit has melted against the header heat shield and its sealed, meaning no line preassure. great. tomorow going to get a new line somewhere and see if i can fix it and hopefully trans acts normally =]

Batman 06-08-2007 03:30 PM

that might do it, if you don't mind the question, why did you get a vacuum controlled trans?

GrandmasterCow 06-10-2007 12:09 PM

well yesterday i put in a treans temp guage, put a brand new vac line on the trans, and rechecked the fluiid and its all perfect.

yet still wont drive. put it in gear nothing. we had it in reverse for a minute but then put it back into another gear nothing then couldnt get it in R again.
still throwing the preassure code. anyone got ideas?

Savage_Messiah 06-11-2007 11:16 AM

.... maybe that solenoid is bad???

i thought about that too but somewhere i read that when a shop installs a vaccuum modulator kit they remove the solenoid and replace it with a resistor and the vaccuum modulator kit controls line preassure now instead of an electronic solenoid? i also checked for fluid flow and i have fluid flow. theres also NO abnormal sounds when trying to get it into gear either. this trans has been sitting outside the car for 9 months now suddenly im getting this code and the trans is acting weird. which when this trans was installed last july it never threw this preassure code before so i dont know if its got something to do with it not going into gear. i'm just confused. lol

98tadriver 06-11-2007 04:01 PM

im curious, how do u check for fluid flow?

GrandmasterCow 06-11-2007 04:03 PM

pull the line that comes out from the trans and put it into a bucket. thats what i did and start it for a second. the fluid flow seems fine. nothing abnormal in the trans fluid either.

camaro2you 06-11-2007 04:30 PM

Whats odd is we had the car out and driving.

GrandmasterCow 06-11-2007 04:37 PM

yup and it suddenly stopped working without warning. something might've come loose but i am on limited time as i'm moving in a week

98tadriver 06-11-2007 09:42 PM

just sell your car man, and start new!

Savage_Messiah 06-12-2007 01:12 PM

I've got $5!

GrandmasterCow 06-12-2007 03:50 PM

i had it in R today, then i had it in D then when u move it out it wont go into anything else and it wont stay in gear long. wtf ?!?!

That or just get a T56 for it and drive like a real man!

T56's are reliable just ask Ron! lol:lol:

JW :D

WildBillyT 06-12-2007 03:56 PM

May be stating the obvious, but it sounds like your line pressure is too low. Do you have an area you can drive it around in to test?

GrandmasterCow 06-12-2007 05:01 PM

na cuz i cant even keep it in gear. line preassure SHOULD be fine because of the modulator kit, but maybe something hapened to that? i'm really not sure. i can get it into reverse RARELY but it wont stay long in reverse but when you take it out you can't get it in. i have a thread on ls1tech too - http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=729929 that im trying to get help there too.

hah i been thinkin of it man but this car probably more than likely will see track and i'd net better e/ts with a built auto. anyway i'm moving next week and really can't afford much right now lol

GrandmasterCow 06-14-2007 02:09 AM

anybody have any ideas? i need this thing working asap but i'm totally broke and in debt due to this damn car.

notes:
1) not even a year old stage 2 trans - warranty is up
2) goes into gear rarely, if does it would move a little bit but if you try to move it out of gear and into another nothing works
3) pump is fine, has good flow of fluid
4) new vac line for the modulator kit - checked modulator it's tight
5) fluid is still red, doesn't smell abnormal or any metal shavings or anything wrong - fluid level is perfect even at full temp
6) no abnormal noises or vibrations

haha didint even see his question above. I got the vac controlled trans because it controls the line preassure and i was recommended it by the shop that built my trans. it wasnt the vac line that's causing my problem now, but i have no idea whats going on.

Tru2Chevy 06-15-2007 02:21 PM

Sounds like a lack of line pressure to me....

Yeah, like not enough to engage a gear.
