Seafoam v. Slick 50 et al
Everyone's talking about Seafoam & its' great effects
what's sets it aside from say slick 50? gumout? and other competing products i've done some reading and it goes back and forth like any other issue i'd like to hear what you guys have to say |
sea foam is different in that it is an actual top end cleaner/lube like GM used to sell in it's dealership service departments. if used properly it will break up carbon and crud build ups in the engine and you will notice an immediate improvement.

I still got the top end cleaner as of March, and Tim is right, Sea Foam is a cleaner.
|
how does that compare to the others? don't they advertise the same results?
|
slick 50 doesnt go in your intake/heads/combustion chambers...it just goes in your oil. seafoam gets sucked into the motor and its pretty much like a steam cleaning, gets all the built up carbon and gunk out of the motor that you cant get to with carb cleaner
|
its a good way to wipe an opti from what i hear.

Who sells it, and how much is it?
I have been using STP Fuel Injector Cleaner and STP Fuel System Cleaner (both and the same time) at every oil change. I haven't really noticed a different with it, but it says it cleans the motor and what-not so it makes me feel better. I bought my car with 44K miles on it and last week it just turned 84K. For as long as i have had it, i have NEVER used anything less then 93 octane, so i don't kno if i even have any gunk in the motor (at least not as much as ppl who use lesser octane). Do you use it the same way; just put it into the fuel tank and let the motor suck it up? I just changed my oil last week and i need put a cleaner in my tank ( i do it every 3K miles) and if this stuff is that good, id like to use it instead of STP's. Pepboys? |

slick 50 does have a fuel injector cleaner....but as far as i'm concerned...Lucas fuel injector clean is the absolute best
