Question About TPI
i want to get a new setup for my iroc 305 TPI. i was looking around there was an edlebrook setup for 750+. i was told about this one from summit. here is the link http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku i was told it might work for me but i would need a new TB from an LT1 or w/e, the question i have is WILL IT WORK FOR ME..

The TB from your car will work, But your not going to gain much on a 305 with a diiferent intake set up. Your better of just getting better runners like SLP or edelbrock and porting out the stock plenum and base. You could also upgrade to an edelbrock TPI base as well.

yea i know im not doing it to gain HP. just to replace my tpi setup becuz mine seen better days. I can also use the setup once i upgrade to another motor witch is nice so im just asking if it is poss.

Its possible. I personal dont like the stealth ram, but alot of people do. Im using the Accell superram. BBK is in the works of a new intake for TPIs that probably wont be out for anothe year. You should check out the bords at thirdgen.org. There is a forum called alternative port EFI intakes, they talk alot about the supperram, miniram, stealth ram, the LT1 intake and others.

I just want to know if i can use it on my motor for a few years so i can enjoy the car while or in the future to build new motor. |
In my opinion, basically it will work, but will probably hurt the cars performance.
I have no experience with that intake, but have worked with the stealth on a 355 and 383. The stock TPI was designed with long runners that are for torque down low. The shorter runners of the Stealth or Holley unit and extra volume in the plentum will hurt your torque. I would assume even more so on a 305 then a 350. The 305 is restricted by it's heads ( small valves = no air flow ), and with less displacement you need all the torque you can get! My .02 John |
