Noise from new Hurst Billet Plus

I just installed my new Hurst Billet Plus shifter and I'm getting a lot of noise up through it. I've run it with and without a gasket underneath and it still does it. The pivot pins in the shifter assembly feel sloppy, as well. Anyone else have this problem? This sucks coming from a big name company like Hurst...

By gasket are you referring to a gasket between the shifter and the transmission? I always just used black RTV. As for the excess noise any aftermarket shifter will translate more roadnoise into the cabin. I'm not familar with the "pivot pins" so i can't help you there sorry.

Yea a gasket at the very base of the shifter. I also used RTV but it just flattened out to metal-on-metal contact. The pivot pins are two metal rods that stick out to the left and right, at the bottom of the stick. those rods are what the stick uses to pivot forward to back, and they sit underneath the adjustable center bias springs. thanks jOn for the reply.

There is no rubber in the hurst shifter so more roise will transfer through it.. Remember with cars (as most other things) you have to give to get you want a more positive shift you have to give up the slop and dampening ability if the shifter..

:stupid: like he said, I never had a hurst when my car was standard (apart from the stocker) but the Pro 5.0 I had didn't have any slop or looseness in it at all, but they may just be different designs.

Of the two Hurst BP's I've installed, neither has had the issues you described...

As JS said, any aftermarket shifter that gives a more positive feel is giving up dampening qualities for performance.
