RIP Colin McRae

:-x one of the best ever in rally. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zwb-RNbdx5U |
heard about it last night. he was an amazing talent and will be missed.
most amazing thing i ever saw him do was on a show about speed that one TLC or Discovery channel or one of them did. he was testing his subaru in the northern forrests of england at full speed with a reporter in the passenger seat instead of a professional co-driver. what made it so amazing to me was that it seemed like a very very odd time to learn that someone speaks with their hands. lol i have to hunt around for a copy of the show or at least that scene. it was such an impressive display. he showed how to go straight through a turn, spin, prevent a spin, jump, flick, and e-brake pivot a car all while talking and often with only one hand on the wheel. even after all that, he had no explanation for his own ability to manipulate the movement of the car so close to the edge of control. |

theres a clip from the X-games where he rolls the car and still finishes within a second of the first place time |
Dayum that's some serious prescence of mind if milliseconds after you rollover you floor it and almost win...

damn that video is insane!
|
He was one hell of a driver.
|
i just heard about this when they mentioned it during the NASCAR race...very tragic loss...
|
they mentioned a rally driver during a NASCAR race?!!!! they're pretty much polar opposites! I'd be especially suprised if it was on speed channel.
|
been a while since i could catch up on rally racing, man that is a huge loss for that sport. i pray for his family

I was a big fan of Mcrae when I used to watch rally racing years ago. He will be missed and to be honest, its still a shock to me, like when Dale Earnhardt died, I couldnt believe it, I kinda still dont to this day, but it saddens to hear the loss of such great talent, even if he retired from racing professionally, he still could of sat right into a car, and begin whipping it like it was 1995 again. And it sadden to hear of lossing someone wheither a racing crash, or a crash that had nothing to do with his career. You will be missed C.M. For the final Auto-x of the year at Giants stadium, Im going to display something in honor of him, just to thank him of his many years entertaining me, and enlightening me of how serious, yet fun, racing can be.
