What would you guys do (car wise)?

Buy a LS1 and have a small car payment or buy an LT1 outright. Keep in mind Im not a mechanic so the lower miles would probably help. Any build up Id be doing most likely id be paying for. The car wont be daily driver and the farthest mod wise would probably be heads and cam(low 12's high 11's). Ls1 would certainly get me there easier, but the Lt1 would leave me more mod money. It will be a weekend/nice weather car and hit the track maybe 2-3 times a season max. Im leaning towards the LS1 but would like to hear some opinions.

chemicalstylez 10-31-2007 07:51 AM

Go with the LS1 car for obvious reasons. I sold my 95 Z28 and bought a 2000 WS6.... have never looked back since.

MonmouthCtyAntz 10-31-2007 08:18 AM

Yea Ive owned both but yea im leaning towards the LS1. A Full exhaust and I'll probably be happy for awhile...or until i get smoked by a terminator

WildBillyT 10-31-2007 02:12 PM

LS1.

WayFast84 10-31-2007 02:15 PM

LS1, bolt ons, tc and a 12 bolt and your at your goal of low 12's high 11's

Most of the Cobra's are stock.... very few around here can be called terminators... plus 90% of their drivers can't handle it or have street tires....no worries about those :)

You have a lid and a catback, terminator should make quick work of you (even stock). Saw one at Atco run a 12.4 Bone Stock..Those must be some really bad drivers

I've never even heard of it, I figured it was his own name for a stang

Anti_Rice_Guy 10-31-2007 08:01 PM

They're both good choices. Ls1 is easier to make fast, lt1s are madd torquey down low so weekend driving equals very fun.

JerzLT1 10-31-2007 08:02 PM

get a lt1. bolt ons will net you mid 12s or better with some weight reduction. take my word for it. or just ask j0n. LT1s sound better too :)

maroman88 10-31-2007 09:12 PM

LOL when did an 03/04 cobra get the name terminator? lol like 4 years after production? never heard of it and who came up with it?

the name "terminator" came before they revealed the car to the public. kinda like the "blue devil" corvette.

I had 2 LT1's both auto, and its a very rare occasion that a bolt on LT1 will hit mid 12's or better...more like low 13's. Your times certainly arent the norm.

Well it looks like you know you answer. You want an LS1. But if it was up to me then I would say you have to leave it to what car style you want.

firehawk1120 11-01-2007 06:59 AM

you wonder where i got my numbers? i posted the link so you wouldn't have to worry about that

but it looks like my info was wrong, so yet another mustang site was wrong. oh well, not my problem
so basically any SVT mustang for those years was a "terminator" it was just a codename for production

Riiiiight, maybe at cecil with a good tail wind or if you gut it, unless you are talking like a 4000 stall and 4.56 gears.

If money is an issue go LT1, you can build good stuff cheaper. LS1 I think is a better engine but everything costs a fortune for it.

Because I dont want one, I was just adding that ford needing a blower to hang is BS. Mach's have hit 13.0-1's stock, if thats not LS1 territory then im not sure what is. As far as "praising" the cobra I wasnt.
