What's better than seeing Van Halen???

Seeing them in a VIP suite for Free! My company bought the rights to the Meadowlands (IZOD Center now) and has a luxury box there now. They gave away 20 tickets to the luxury box for the Van Halen show this saturday and guess who's going?? Sweet!!

BonzoHansen 10-31-2007 10:02 AM

I hear ya! I had 7th row center for free in Philly thanks to my bro! The show was great.

Hey, if another ticket appears, I'll go.

I can't wait to see 'em on Saturday! Nice score for you Paul with the box seats! My wife and I will be up in the 200s, but it'll still be a good time. I saw them 5 or 6 times with Sammy over the years but have never seen them with DLR. The set lists I've seen in Scott's previous thread look awesome!

HardcoreZ28 11-02-2007 09:01 AM

I didn't even see the set list.....now I gotta go find it. Who the hell is this Marley character opening up?

BonzoHansen 11-02-2007 10:56 AM

Relative of Bob Marley. Skip it unless you dig that kind of thing. But VH will go on early. They came on at 830 in Philly.

I wish I was going again. Damn.

I can't wait, me and two of my friends got tickets for Saturday. Its going to be amazing even if the Van Halens and David Lee Roth don't talk anymore, ha ha. I love Van Halen. Can't wait to hear Running with the Devil, Hot for Teacher, Panama, and of course Jump, oh man, so excited. Later, Jeff.

Not seeing them at all?

So, what'd you guys think!? IMO, they put on a pretty damn good show. Sure, there's a few mistakes here and there (it's live music after all), but overall their performance was amazing. Alex is still one of the best drummers out there and EVH's solo was pretty damn good. He did get pissed at his guitar tech at one point and threw his monitor amp off the side of the stage though. ;) Wolfgang did a helluva job being only 16 years old too, laying down great bass lines and singing backups with his dad. And Diamond Dave, ever the showman, did an impressive job and his voice actually got a little better as the night went on. We had a blast!

That was one incredible show!!!! I loved it. It was so good. It was great when Eddie threw the amp off the stage, me and my friends started the Eddie chant in our section. I his solo, also Jump was great and they're take on Pretty Woman, Panama, Runnin' w/ the Devil, too much to list, everything was righ on cue, possibly one of the best concerts I've ever been to if not the best. Later, Jeff.

Amazing show. EVH was and still is a pioneer in his own style. Somehow I missed him throwing the amp off stage...go figure. Very impressed by Wolfgang's composure given his age.

Believe it or not I think the highlight of my night was Ice Cream Man.....no idea why.

Yea, I loved that part of the night as well, must have listened to Ice-Cream man in the car twenty times on the way home. Loved that little chat David Lee Roth had w/ the crowd before he sang it bringing back memories of his youth with the band chilling in their room filled with posters like Jimi Hendrix. Awesome concert. Later, Jeff.

He tossed the amp offstage right before Dave came out and did the long monologue and Ice Cream Man intro. I think Dave was stalling so they could get the guitar technical bugs worked out; I noticed Eddie pointing at the tech offstage, and then down at his guitar a few times in the song or two before that so I think he was having some issues. He got 'em worked out in time for the solo though, which was amazing!

Awesome video from a great concert to have been at.

The Fixer 11-06-2007 08:39 PM

That clip that Scott posted is from when Eddie tossed the amp offstage - it went flying after the song was over. You can even hear some guy in the crowd say at the end of the song "You think Eddie is pissed, or what?" He was definitely steamed, but recovered nicely.

Be very nice to me.

Except the 81 Oakland show (mtv links above). I don't have that. TMK it is not openly circulating in the trading circles.

Yes because korn would be a great band to give justification to using a time machine for :rollseye:

I was gonna go see van halen but then i realised tickets were like $200 to barely see the stage let alone the people. I hate shows like that therefore I am saving my money.

As far as the time machine goes: I would go see Pantera. Your never, ever, ever getting Pantera back...
