sway bar question
I currently have a 305 in my car but am planning on putting in a 350, my friend tells me all i really need are new bushings and Z28 sway bars. Would it be worth my time/money to put new sway bars in?
If so, what sway bars would be best for me? I know the name Hotchkis but their sway bars are VERY expensive and hollow. I know tubular would be cheaper and i have found Addco ones for a price i can manage. |
DO NOT BUY THE ADDCO BARS!!!!!
they are total crap, ive got a set sitting in my driveway that i just ripped off and replaced with a set of good lightly used hotckis ones, which are very nice and actually fit the way they are supposed to. good stuff, but steep. Check out Spohn, they have good bars and they are not terribly expensive, probably close to addco ________ VAPORIZER WIKI |
i have factory iroc sway bars for sale...i believe the rear is a 22mm and the front is 34-34mm...also have a set of springs if you are interested...they will make the car handle worlds better if thats what you are looking to do. Energy suspension sells bushing kits to fit them, endlinks too. i have the factory ones but re-using them isnt somehting i would do due to age. PM me if you are interested.

You could go with the bars Dan has, or step up to the factory WS6 sways (36mm front, 24mm rear).

or no front sway bar at all like most of us that race  i havent had one since august..... JerseyTA hasnt had one in like 3 years lol
|
most of us that race in a straight line...
if he is looking for bigger bars i would assume hes interested in the handling of the vehicle. |
third gens have a variety of choices. i have to agree with tru2chevy about the WS6 sways. the factory hollow 36/24 combo is a great balance for a streeter and wil leave the car with improved handling while keeping it's general attitude very forgiving.

And remember when you compare bars that the increase in stiffness between two bars of different thicknesses is not linear, it's to the fourth power. So if you put a bar on that is 3mm bigger than stock, etc it will be a lot stiffer than factory.

Ok thanks alot for all of your help. If anyone has used WS6 front and rear sway bars let me know :)
