For the prices people are asking for them lately youd be better off with a whole new unit.

426 Wedge 12-22-2007 07:10 AM

What "unit", 9 bolt , 12 bolt or 44?

JSPERFORMANCE 12-22-2007 07:43 AM

12 bolt/9 inch/s60 all around the same price

If I remember correctly it's tough to find gearsets for them as well...

Nah, you can find gears for them easily. The off-roading community will prolly keep the D44 alive and well forever.

Randy's Ring & Pinion sells the following D44 gearsets:

3.08, 3.31, 3.54, 3.73, 3.92, 4.11, 4.27, 4.56, 4.88, 5.13, and 5.89

i agree with josh. people are asking waaayyyyyy too much for them. there is a novelty to having a dana44 instead of the more common rears under the car.

Now that you put it that way, I feel like a total ******* Worst part is that I actually knew that and didn't pull it together.

Maybe I was thinking of the 9 bolt... is that the one that's tough to get gears for?

Yea, 9 bolt parts are getting pretty hard to come by.

Yea, I was lucky to get mine so cheap with brand new gears, brand new posi, and a spool tossed in for good measure. Not to mention the original gears and rebuildable posi. ;)
