Returned to a favorite spot!

Since today was so nice out I decided to give my car a quick wash and take her for a spin. I love taking pictures when I have a lot on my mind I always find some clarity doing it. So here are the results of my little expedition.

They are called HDR or High Dynamic Range, its supposed to create a "dreamy" effect. I don't like the second to last one but I love the last picture. Its not everyones cup of tea.

maroman88 12-25-2007 06:05 PM

i like the last 2, kinda looks like a drawing on a post card

Teds89IROC 12-25-2007 07:46 PM

wow, very nice!

79CamaroDiva 12-25-2007 09:59 PM

on the last two did you adjust the levels or curves? the grayness of them actually doesnt seem to suggest an HDR image.. i would think the cars dynamic range would be just as exaggerated as the clouds..

Blackbirdws6 12-26-2007 08:14 AM

sweet pics. I like the second one the best. I smell pic of the month

79CamaroDiva 12-27-2007 03:09 PM

I did slide the white & black balance around in Photomatix when I was doing tonal control, and I did my best to get it to a reasonable Grey/silver color on the body. I'm not sure why the car looks the way it does in the last one compared to the first HDR I tried where you can really see the poorly blended front end of my car.

I had to use an HDR because it was a little over-cast in the distance and I couldn't get the full background.

Bad ASS, bro!

79CamaroDiva 12-27-2007 07:37 PM

im not familiar with photomatix, but for whatever reason, the highlights and lighter midtones look really good, but the shadows look real muddy, especially noticable in the bottom corners of the last pic.. but it looks like an editing issue and maybe the original is ok.

I'm not to good with it either, I just played with the slide settings until I got something I liked  Then I open it up in photoshop and use the basic color/contrast/hue/saturation/brightness settings.

if you feel like it, send me the original files and ill see if i can toy with htem a bit. im not pretending to be a photoshop expert.. but i have some spare time finally :D

Great shots, like all the ones I've seen you take. This summer I'm gonna have to get you to take some of mine.

Has your car ever been repainted? or parts of it?

I like the pictures! I wish I had been able to bring mine when you came down to Hamilton

Yes, it was in an accident before he bought it and partially repainted then.

That would be why the door and fender/quarter don't match in the one picture then.

edpontiac91 01-04-2008 10:44 PM

I really like 4 and 5. The clouds in 5 are awesome. The only area I don't care for, is your wheels have no shape to them. They just look BLACK. You need some reflection on them to make stand out a little more, otherwise it just looks like a plain black wheel. Just my :2cents:

I actually had a little accident with it when I first owned it. A deer jumped out of me on a back road and when I swerved to avoid it I lost control into a small stone wall that tore up the passenger side of my bumper and 1/4 panel and the shop who did the work did a horrible job blending.

I actually re-edited two pictures to bring out some more color:
