Jeep Guys - Brake Line Help
Hey all you dirty Jeep guys. A guy I work with needs a new front to rear brake hardline for his 96 Grand Cheroke (nice, rotted through in 10 years). Dealer cannot get him a pre-bent one. I checked the old car brake line companies to no avail. Any idea where he can get a full pre-bent line, or is he going to have to make one?
|
I cant believe you cant find a pre bent for that jeep, however is making it that out of the question? If they need a hand, Ive done alot of them let me know, I can come help out.
|
I've made some too. I don't even know what kind of flares are needed (bubble flares, 45*, etc.).
At this point I am looking for the part for him, I wasn't planning on doing it. Thanks though. |
Have him call Trenton Brake. See what it would cost for them to bend and install a new line.

not hard to bend your own...you can buy it in sections already flared and stuff, unless you have your own flaring tool.

at the auto parts store i worked at, we had...8", 12", 20", 30", 40", 51", 60", and 72". so basically you mix and match til youre close to what you need, and if its a tad too long add a couple bends to make it what you need
|
Hell, if I wanted a spliced one I'd just fix the one in the car now. LOL
|
its not splicing...it comes with tube nuts on it so you connect it to your existing good line. splicing would be using compression unions or something
|
A coupling is still a splice!
If it were mine I'd probably just splice it with a small line & some coupings, assuming i could get the right size line & unions. |

Prebent lines don't have them (unless we are talking about totally different things). I'm assuming the line runs from the MC (or maybe ABS unit) to the rear flex hose, probably 10' in tube (120"). I think the one for my 77 was a hair under 11' in line. You can't make a 10' tube out of smaller ones w/o a union - but me thinks we is on different paths, LOL.
Screw it, duct tape & go! Brakes don't make you go faster! |
well i thought you were jsut replacing that one section...on a lot of cars they are in sections instead of one long line.
btw, you can get 25 foot rolls of brake line and cut and flare it yourself, if you really wanna be that way. :p |
No way, screw that, it ain't my ride!!!
|
FYI Jeep Guys: Classic Tube makes pre-bent line kits.
