wheel offset??

ok so i bought a set of 16x7 cragars they have zero offset. anyway they hit the calipers in the front. they hit on the face of the calipers (outside pad clip and caliper housing itself) so my thoughts are if i get 2 15s in the front with different offset they won't hit. am i dreaming or is this possible? my question for you guys is do i need + or - offset? also does backspacing have anything to do with it?

I don't know what offset/backspacing you need, but I just figured I would let you know that backspacing and offset are just two different ways of describing the same thing.

the offset has nothing to do with hitting the calipers, its the design of the wheel. You can get a different offset, and use a spacer to clear the caliper but thats about it.

they guy i bought them from is telling me to grind the face of the calipers a bit. any have an opinion on that? seriously I'm at the point i just need someone to tell me what to do. I'm sick of cragars in the back salad shooters up front. :moon: so rice!

how badly is it hitting? ive heard of people grinding the calipers before, not a big deal, unless we are talking about removing like a half inch or so.

they don't roll? i tried pull it out of the shop and just spun the rears. i got 7/16" spacers and they don't rub with them but they're really friggin thick and put the wheel way to far out.

Tru2Chevy 01-13-2008 08:45 PM

With the 7/16" spacer, how much space is there between the caliper and the wheel?
