Street Racing at "Rediculous" Levels
http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/01/22/str...ing/index.html
Illegal street racing has reached what one law enforcement official calls "ridiculous" levels in the United States, causing a number of deaths. Simcoe knows he's lucky to be alive. "The fire department told me that when they see this, nine out of 10 times the kid's dead, and if they're alive then they're gonna be missing some limbs or they're gonna be a paraplegic," Simcoe says. He had a concussion, some scratches and bruises. ...etc |

That should say it all |
how ****ing stupid can you be??? safe street racing??? I swear the people are retarded, theres drag strips all over this country. its safe(or the maximum safety for such a sport), its a definite 1/4 mile(so theres no rice burning foreigners stabbing each other over who won), and its cheap. I mean they're talking about going over 100 mph in economy cars that are unstable at 70. I swear to god I'm going to start ranting to every editor I see call there retards "drag racing". drag racing is a LEGAL sport, were maximum safety is provided. Street racing is Juan Taco and Ping Pang Pong blasting though residential areas, and nobody know its coming...they just thing the neighbor is moving his lawn.

Seriously though; think about it, everyone says you should race at the track or what-not, but they're only a few tracks around. Also, like some ppl have said you might only get 3-4 runs in depending on the amount of ppl who show up. Thats beat, but don't forget about the safety regulations; you know, if you run faster then xx.xxx seconds without sufficient safety equipment, you get booted. These are 2 issues so far... Thunderbolt Raceway is supposed to open, and it is a "circle" type track. I for one love that kind of "racing", i'd much rather "cayon carve" then go 1/4 mile, but...there is a $10K down payment and a $2,500 yearly payment to be a member and to use their track regulary. So unless ur a Yuppi w/ a Lambo who has more money then he knows what do do w/, u r SOL. So what do we have; lets see, If you're in highschool/college and have a car rthat u want to race, but don't have the propper cage or w/e you're beat for a 1/4 mile track if you car is to fast (Atco excluded), or everyone and their brother decided to come out tonight so the line is rediculously long... Well, you're also prob broke so no dice joining a racing club to use their track. So now your legal options are eff'd time to find an empty street and race.... I also said why doesn't the state close off some non used back roads (abandond industrial parks) and let them race there, or better yet, let ppl use old air strips? call it a "Race at your own risk track" or something??? Oh, i know why, b/c you would have some dumb bitch who would sue the state if her dumbass son hit a pump and killed himself. I'm sure even Atco still have some responsibility for those who race on their track. You just can't win, no one can/does. |
I'm still reeling at the fact that this kid was talking smack about how his car was better when HE NEEDED A HILL TO GET HIS CAR GOING BECAUSE FIRST GEAR DIDN'T WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
What needs to happen is any time something like this occurs, instead of focusing 100% on all the negative aspects of street racing, mention that there are legal ways to get that adrenaline rush.. Free (good) publicity for local tracks and a helpful way to engrain a healthy habit into the youth.

Everytime some nutjob gets a hold of a gun and shoots up a mall or a school you don't hear about the millions of other gun owners that are responsable and have never killed anyone. Nobody has ever said that JUST ONE CCW on the Virigina Tech campus could have stopped that psychopath from completing his rampage, all they do is talk about how that is proof that all firearms should be banned. Racing is the exact same thing, they are looking for ways to get rid of it, easiest way to do that is to demonize it. The sheeple will believe anything. |
My favoirte was awile back a kid in FL tried some tokyo drift ontop of a parking garage

They should just revoke somebody's license for a year if they are caught. Then if they get caught driving without one, a month in jail. That's way more of a PITA than a stupid fine.

when are kids gonna learn thAT civics are huge pieces of S, and are not meant to be raced? btw, how the f do u lose control of a CIVIC? i didnt read the whole story, but u see it all the time..

put the sheriffs station there . people are gonna race , bottom line . you would think that they would like to keep it safe-ish/confined to certain areas to keep john q public or racer from meeting the wrong way ... like for example back when i used to skate you couldn't do it anywhere without running into people ,getting tickets all that stupid crap so what did the man do .... they started building skateparks and everyone was happy .. then the whole there worried about groups/gangs fighting drinking and just bein knuckleheads , but seriously let cops be present... |
I used to go to this place on long island, the calverton naval industrial weapons complex, used to be owned by lockheed martin then sold to the city for use as an industrial park, a skydiving place owns one runway, nobody owns the other. One dude from the Marauder boards works in what used to be one of the control towers so we used to have meets up there where we would grill and just hang out all day, then we would go out to the runway and race, do top speed runs whatever. One time when we were there a dude on a bike came out and did a run where he claims he hit 200+, we saw a Viper SRT10 out there before.
What happened? The city installed a security camera monitered periodically by the police and if they catch you out there on the runway the immediately dispatch a unit and it doesn't work bookin it cause they installed another camera by the only exit that has high enough resolution to get your plate number as you buzz by. yet i'm sure if there was street racing in the town they'd wonder why. |

|
I do, grow up and realize all races do this, not just two.
|
i never said there weren't stupid people in every race, i never said dumb ass white kids don't street race. now your so quick to jump in my **** cause your Mr high-and-might-never-done-anything-wrong, Go read the article again...tell me that doesn't fit every stereotype imaginable...thats where the names came from. a JOKE making fun of how stereotypical the names were.....the stabbing part come from something else that i didn't expect most of you to get, on that rice forum theres a thread about some kid who got jumped, by foreigners(European actually) and stabbed him(for a rice flyby).

Gavin Simcoe sounds like an Irish name.
To further prove my point: http://www.thenewstribune.com/news/c...232422-t3.html White boy. You can't make any statements about race, age or any other type of demographic to street racing. It takes all kinds. |
what about johnny wong????
