Finally! New chin spoiler!

After the mishap in October of Criger Tow company damaging my chin spoiler, fighting to get them to pay for it, waiting for the OK from AAA to get it fixed, locating one, painting it, and installing...it's finally done! I faxed over an installation picture and a paid receipt from the body shop, so I should be getting my reimbursement check soon. I've always wanted to upgrade my GFX to the 91-92 style, so I got a start by buying this 91 chin spoiler from Ted Gerlach. Now I can begin to piece together the side skirts and lower door moldings as I find good deals on them and hopefully be complete by the summer. Check it out:

lol good luck ted, that was one of the most pain in the ass projects i have ever done. all the holes look like they will line up with the aero pieces but there all slightly off lol.

that and i bought a complete set that were in "good" shape, only to find out one rocker piece and both rear quarter pieces were shot! then had to buy another set lol

On a side note....what headlight bulbs are you running? I see a lot of blue there.....

Good looking mod. I like the aftermarket hood:drool:. You should take a 3/4 front view shot to show more of the lip from that angle. If you put Sylvainia Silverlites in your turn signals, they will still LIGHT up yellow, but will look like chrome when not on!

nice work ted it looks great

Thanks for the compliments guys! I upgraded the headlights to H4 housings with H4 bulbs and upgraded harness with relays and stuff from painless. The bulbs came with the lamps, they are Optics Synergy. Also, the lamps have a built in Halo, I just haven't hooked them up yet. Ed, thanks for the info on the turn signal lamps but I think I'm going to upgrade all my bulbs to LED and use white for the turn signals.

If those bulbs have a blue tint to them like it seems from the pics, you should upgrade them. Those types of bulbs are mostly all junk.

Yea, they're some cheap Jap brand I'm sure, I have an extra set too, I was just going to use them till they burn out, they most likely will in a couple months lol

I did the car at the body shop I was working at during HS in 2003. The new chin spoiler was painted at Mizzoni's autobody in Lodi. I did the body work/primer/wet sanding and then gave it to them to shoot black. It's Steve's (1rawta) family's business.

Teds89IROC 03-17-2008 09:38 AM

Thanks again guys! Eventually I'll get to bigger rotors/better brakes, this week I'm rebuilding the front suspension, I'll make a new thread later today with all the details :-D . and Bob, JM was here saturday while I was ripping the suspension out, helping when needed 8-)

It's actually a 91-92 only piece....just don't want you to get one from a '90 and find out it's not what you were looking for.

classic industries now offers parts for our cars and they have one, but it is also ridiculous. Your best bet is local junkyards and check out thirdgen.org. Every now and then someone is selling one. Also check ebay.
