gsxr 600 or R6

im thinking about buying my first bike. its a toss up between both the gsxr 600 and the R6. both are beautiful machines. i was wondering what everyone else thinks about these bikes. are they good starter bikes. if you have one please let me know what you think about it. thanks alot

i think the gixxer is more comfortable of a ride. if you have any riding experience on a two wheel motorized vehicle that is larger than a moped, those bikes won't be too big of a first step. if you have zero riding experience...get some, whether it be on a peppy dirt bike or a wussed out street cruiser. any 600cc crotch rocket can be a little overwhelming for someone with no experience.

im looking too, i dont wanna spend much on my first bike n i havent rode a moped in like 7 years. i was looking at some 250cc ninjas for dirt cheap, i saw like an 07 for 2800ish.

I used to have an R6 and loved it... no experiance with any gsxr except riding a buddies turbo busa.... after i sold the R6 i upgraded to an R1 and loved that as well but i sold the bikes after i almost got into multiple accidents from jackasses not paying attention and 2 of my friends died

I would get a used bike if you have no experience. That way if you drop it, you won't kick yourself in the ass for scratching up your new bike. But I agree with "iamsickofitall" the gixxer is very comfortable.

a few guys i know that ride told me the gsxr 750 is the best for your money still good for a beginner but you also wont get bored with it

hard decision for me to tell you my opinion ;)

a guy i work with used to work as a mechanic for a dealer. he said that he could make call for me and get me a better price. i didnt really want to get a new one at first but id rather spend more and get a new one with a warrenty than deal with someone elses toy that has been beat to the ground. i dont really have that much experience but i dont want to buy a small bike then sell that one when i get comfortable. i would rather get the 600 and take my time leaning in some empty parking lots. im not the type of person that would just get on the thing with no experience and beat the **** out of it. as for getting into accidents, i understand thats a risk that ill bee taking everytime in get on the bike. but we all take risks everyday that could have fatal endings. i appreciate the concern and it is deffinately something to keep in mind. there is no way im buying a 750 for my first bike. i personally feel that is just way to much for a beginner. i still have some other things things to look into such as interest rates(bank or dealer), insurances, getting a permit and liesence(sp).

those are some nice bikes you got there. ive been leaning heavely towards the R6 in liquid silver.

i bought a brand new 03 gsxr 600 as my first bike, it wasnt bad at all to learn on and its fast enough for a while esp if your under 200lbs. i had a heavy friend with a 750 and i would run right next to it no prob. i dont know if its different now but the gsxr and the ducatti's were the only bikes that came with steering dampeners stock. and i never realized how much it does until i rode a bike without one. but all in all i think either r6 or gsxr 600 are both great bikes. i like the look of the new r6's better tho

08 R6 FTW!! the only thing i dont like about the 08 gixxers is that damn exhaust :barf: but all in all i dont think you'll be disappointed with either decision

r6 all the way. they look so much nicer. gsxrs look like a scooter with that one headlight in the center. Both bikes are fast enough just go with what you like better. I have an 03 r6 btw
