My accountant is my favorite person right now

I was expecting to owe about $3000 in taxes this year because the job I had the end of August thorugh beginning of Dec last year didn't with hold taxes, and they payed me VERY well.. Well, since I held on to all of my work and travel expenses, my accountant was able to turn the numbers around so I dont owe anything, and in fact get a small return :w00t: I'm so happy!! :D its like getting a giant return, because now all the money I had saved, I don't have to give the IRS.

yeah.. he's worth every penny it costs to have an actual accountant. I'm sure if I used H&R Block or any of the computer software, I would have ended up owing a giant amount. I'd rather pay someone who actually works for me. And didn't yell at me for not filing in 05 or 06 so he had to do those too

Just be careful that he doesn't over exaggerate any numbers. Last thing you need is the I.R.S. throwing a red flag at you because your trying to save a few bucks. I know accountants who are very shady and don't trust them for anything.

yeah, i know what you mean, but luckily he's been my mom's accountant for years, and takes care of all of my grandmothers estate, Island Dragways accounting, my parents, and now mine. I didn't just walk into some guys office and throw all my paper at him :) Anybody looking for an accountant, I would definitely suggest shopping around and getting referrals, not just walk into any old CPA's office.

I used turbotax online, and it went step by step over everything I could claim, including work expenses, travel, medical, major loss (ie flood loss), etc. We got back a very large sum of money.

I had planned to use my dad's accountant, but for the 2/3 the price I got the same amount of money back. The software is just as good nowadays as an accountant, I think.
