I'm thinking about buying a sweet 2006 Eclipse GT...

Ive been wanting a new daily driver for some time now and selling off my Denali. The gas mileage is too much even though I barely drive it....

So now my friend is selling her 2006 Mitubishi Eclipse GT, and it got me thinking... She needs to sell it as soon as possible and I figured maybe i'd help her out

Her Eclipse has only just over 23,000 miles and is the 3.8L V6 with 263hp. It also has the sportronic auto trans. She bought it brand new in sept. 2006 in White plains NY and still owes about 19k. The car only has some minor marks on the front bumper but is otherwise very clean. Its also a nice bright red color with black/gray interior. Shes even willing to let someone pay a certain amoutn in cash and then take over payments, which i think only 39 months remains. She drove the car like an old lady so i know how it was treated.

What you guys think.... i may need to jump on it before some of you guys get interested in it.

I think UBG will shake his finger at you....

If you like it, it will get double the mileage of the denali.

my family had a 01 Eclipse Gt. Only repairs were a new battery, rebuilt starter, and new tie rods. Car was reliable and decent fun. Gas mileage wasn't phenomenal but far better than your denali. That being said, do you mind the boy racer stigma it portrays? do you mind that there are more efficient cars out there? your choice, the car is new so how bad can it be?

if it was me? i wouldn't do it.

I have been unimpressed with mileage when i see them written up in magazines. low 20s.

Knipps 04-22-2008 07:57 PM

My mom's got one (as i'm sure you saw) & she loves it
She's not the type of person to buy something if it doesn't have any get up & go

but then again, she doesn't have the auto so idk about gas mileage there

sweetbmxrider 04-22-2008 08:22 PM

i dono dude. thats a chick car.

BillFromTR 04-22-2008 08:45 PM

Thats very nice to help out a friend like that, but I wouldn't want the car.

Jersyboyy 04-22-2008 08:49 PM

A buddy of mine in NC has it, he pimps that thing like its a M3 or something haha. "CUTE" little car. It really is up to you tho.

maroman88 04-22-2008 09:41 PM

sorry dude, chick car, thats why SHE has one lol

ImpalaSSpeed96 04-22-2008 10:00 PM

They're so homo.... COMPLETE CHICK CAR!!! You might want to look into getting a Bug, ha ha ha!!!

String 04-22-2008 10:22 PM

Never felt too good about my manliness when I would drive my wifes eclipse without her in it.

JerzyIroc 04-22-2008 10:37 PM

may be a chicks car, but my boy's fiancée ran 14.3@100 BONE stock. that's LT1 territory ...

BigAls87Z28 04-22-2008 10:51 PM

Eh...it looks like a frog with elephantitus.
If you wanted the looks with the fuel econ, get a 4 banger. The V6 will get low 20's at best.

For 19k, you can find a cool compact car that will get much better gas milage, and still be decent.

amen. she only gets about 19 20 mixed. granted that includes driving in jersey city 5 days a week but still that's not great. don't ls1's get that without driving like a dick?

Teds89IROC 04-22-2008 11:01 PM

That's cute

madness410 04-22-2008 11:04 PM

the decision is always yours in the end but dude an eclipse is a chick car..and for 19 g's you could pay 10 g's for a used 4 banger (maybe less) and get 25-30 mpg...and use some of the last 9'gs to buy me a supercharger :-)

Savage_Messiah 04-23-2008 02:08 AM

That car is a fugly piece and I will make fun of you for the rest of all eternity; especially if you're spending 19k+ for that thing

I think real world driving yielded less...which is less than our big evil, environment killing V8's :D

qwikz28 04-23-2008 07:35 AM

PS- 19K is a fully optioned Saturn Astra. i'd take new car over used anyday... especially since (and most people here would agree) the saturn is a better car.

85-trans am 04-23-2008 07:44 AM

I had 3 of the 1st gens and if the new ones are like those say away. I know it is a 06 but it won't be long till that thing is leaking oil all in your driveway. Why don't you look into like a new or used chevy colbolt u can get one for like 5 grand and its a chevy.

V 04-23-2008 07:49 AM

ok i see everyones point, lol, so maybe i wont get it, but i still wanna help her out selling it. Where do you all recommend advertising it to get the best exposure. Its currently on eBay and tonight i'm gonna put it on craigslist, anywhere else?
