I just finished all my processing the other day and am now officially in the Marine Corp. My job will be Intelligence and Recon. My ship off date is September 15th. I'm really looking forward to all of this, its a huge move and its gonna be great!

sweetbmxrider 04-22-2008 08:13 PM

DaSkinnyGuy 04-22-2008 08:18 PM

Congrats.

Since I had a few major surgeries I am not elgiable for the military, but I wanted to be in the marines, I cant  so I had to make to choice to go into a automotive trade school. It will always be in my heart to be in the marines but I cant join. Almost every generation of my family has been in either the army, national guard, navy, marnies.

What's wrong with being a grunt? Prior 0311 (infantry rifleman) here. He won't go until Sept so he can get garuanteed the job he asked for.

Good luck buy the way. And now that I'm a civilian, it's my turn to say thanks.

NOTHING, didnt mean the post like that at all. im sorry it came out like that. like i said two of my good friends went in and ended up grunts (their words, which is why i used it) after spending all their recruitment being told they would get some other jobs.

they both loved it once they started, one is artillary and the other is infantry

jims69camaro 04-23-2008 10:45 AM

hu-rah grunt. I&R is the best job in the world. you will have a blast - it's the perfect time of year to ship out, too, september... not too hot, not too cold.

me? i was part of the team that took you jarheads where you were going... but instead of what i wanted, i ended up in personnel. adapt and overcome. :usa:

basically in any of the armed forces, they'll put you wherever they want.

As of today, I myself am currently fighting a change to my duties. I am here in a supply unit as a truck driver, trained and all. YET today, I got tasked out to another unit, basically HQ, to be on the PSD(personal security detachment) team for our sgt major and LT colonel. Not a bad job in itself, but its BS. I was one of the best soldiers in our distribution unit and now randomly chosen for this. If i can't get out, im going out on a medical profile(messed up my ankle bad since basic) so they'll have to swap me back out.
