GAS!!!

Man gas prices are getting a little out of contol. Putting supper in the car is really getting hard on the pockets, and just hard to get out and take a drive.

97slpss 04-23-2008 08:11 AM

Yea man its getting crazy...my Honda has been down all week I havn't gotten around to fixing it and taking the SS to school everyday is hitting me hard

Tsar 04-23-2008 08:29 AM

premium in State College, PA is 3.85, for about jersey?

slugger27nj 04-23-2008 08:32 AM

Yeah, it bites, and the speculators and Big Oil are laughing all the way to the bank. I used to drive from Jackson to Pennsauken for work every day, and I'm glad I don't do that now!

I'm gonna start working from home (and 1 day/wk in Manhattan) in about 2 weeks, so that'll help my fuel bill. I only work about 6 miles from home now, but saving that 12 miles a day will help, too!!

I think it was 3.53 at the Hess in Matawan last night. Others are about the same.

well in that case i'm looking forward to my stay in Jersey. I bet here in PA it will topple over 4 dollar mark by may 10th...

slugger27nj 04-23-2008 08:41 AM

The gas tax in PA is higher than here, but don't put it past the crooks in Trenton to leave it that way for long. If it doesn't go up after the election this year, it will almost definitely go up after the guber election the following year.

BigAls87Z28 04-23-2008 08:51 AM

Something really needs to be done about the speculation of the oil, and the unregulated oil market. Its beyond funny now. LAST WEEK I put 10 gallons of 93 in the 72 a 3.32. Not a week later, its 3.55.

CamaroGirlie 04-23-2008 08:58 AM

These gas prices are ridiculous....with my weekend car being the z and my dd being a gtp I'm paying $3.75 a gallon cuz both need premium. Right now, I really miss my 4 cyl altima :(

bad64chevelle 04-23-2008 09:08 AM

Yeah, this really sucks. I cant afford a new vehicle till probably the end of the summer, and nothing I own gets great gas mileage. I have a 25 (one way) mile commute to school, and only a 4 mile commute to my boss' house for work but it adds up FAST.

Tsar 04-23-2008 09:16 AM

Before last weekend it was 3.69 here, now as this weekend is approaching its 3.85

edit. that was in response to AL, i forgot to click quote..

RiggsLW81 04-23-2008 09:21 AM

last week filled up at Sunoco in Lyndhurst..93 octane was 3.25 a gallon, filled up yesterday..it was 3.59. its beyond rediculous...34 cent hike in 6 days. someone is gettin a hard-on over this and it aint me.

BigAls87Z28 04-23-2008 09:26 AM

Here's the scorecard, in case you missed it. There's no shortage of gasoline or oil in the U.S. today, and we have near-record reserves on hand. Meanwhile the Congressional mandate for ethanol has jacked up the price of chicken feed for Pilgrim's Pride, which is the U.S.'s largest processor of chickens and turkeys—by $1.3 billion. And that's for just one company processing chicken. This is what passes for acceptable to our Energy Secretary?

snap.

according to a report from Reuters on Mar. 11, 2008, Klesse recently released the information that gasoline production has been curtailed in response to slowing demand.
so, the futures market is to blame for the recent spike in prices. what they don't get is, as the price of gas goes up, we are less likely to use it for recreational purposes. so, what it will boil down to is that only those who need to use gas for their cars to get to work and home will be buying it. all other uses of gasoline will go down. will the price continue to rise, or will they finally understand that it's not about protecting the oil interests, it's about protecting the consumer - the one who ultimately will pay what they charge for a gallon of gas. bring the price back down to what it was two summers ago and watch people start using their vehicles for recreation again (thereby using more gas, which will net them more money in the long run).

if i have never been convinced that president bush is an idiot, i have now been convinced. to hear him say the price of gas is being caused by a shortage, which takes less than a minute to research and prove false, is the most ludicrous thing his presidency has been involved in. and that's saying a lot...

bubba428 04-23-2008 12:50 PM

its all about money...........

OUCH!........ Im daily driving my 95 Z28 to work everyday and its draining my pockets its rediculous, Its extremly hard to just cruise anymore.

baddest434 04-23-2008 02:01 PM

thats why i'm contemplating buying myself a bike for the summer. for what i'd save on gas would more then pay for the bike.

cheppibear 04-23-2008 05:25 PM

Just think about the Billions of dollars the Oil companies are making....and the Billions of dollars the Airlines are loosing. Watch the airfares go through the roof....

The economy has not hit bottom yet so the energy prices will continue up for some time. When they crash they will crash hard just like the housing market.

What is interesting is that my monthly payment amount for PSE&G gas actually went down $30 / month on the Payment Plan.

bubba428 04-23-2008 05:28 PM

well, its not really the oil companies...its the refineries slowing down production and hiking the cost, blaming the price of oil to redirect attention from them selves

DaSkinnyGuy 04-23-2008 05:42 PM

Its time to park it and walk it or stay home.

Brando56894 04-23-2008 06:01 PM

its getting pretty bad, luckily i only have to put regular in my car

Blackbirdws6 04-23-2008 06:18 PM

the new ride is def. less fuel efficient than the old DD so I'm feeling it. However, I expected it and it's been budgeted so I know I'm paying to play. The bird will be going out here and there when it's justified and worth it really.

It does suck though and bad for the hobby as a whole so it's not like I don't care.

Paid $3.59 for 93 2 days ago.
