If you are looking for a pretty secure job that pays pretty decently, apply to NJ Transit. I've been there 20 years, never seen a layoff, and with gas costing 900 bux a gallon we will def keep on expanding.

sorry to hear that. make sure your boss had sufficient evidence to fire you...if he didnt you can pull a discrimination card or something like that.

Did you test for Bus or for Rail? 'Cause I'm on the Rail side, and I know they are doing a lot of hiring. In fact a lot of guys in other crafts like laborers and coach cleaners are testing to move up and become mechanics. Either way, I'd keep on their azzes. It might take a little while, but it is a worth while job.

ok let me get this right....
you were "fired" bc the shop was slow and there was not enough work?
or
you were frired bc you werent doing enough work ie-poor performance?

there is a difference there....if you were "fired" for having a slow shop then you were tech layed off and you would qualify for unemployment. but if you were fired for lack of performance then unemployment is not on ur side.

NJ has "at-will" employment....technically they can fire you anytime without giving you an explanation, so you really have to have some good evidence if you wanna pull a discrimination card.....

most lawyers won't go anywhere near this unless you have a serious buttload of evidence, paperwork, etc., that can back up your claim. frivolous lawsuits ftl.
