third gens..how did you mount front plate?

ok so if youve read my other threads i got into a little trouble with the po-lice about the front plate not being mounted. i was looking at it today and it wont mount directly to the front grille on the camaro, and i really dont want to drill holes in the grille just incase i ever want a new grille and want to sell this one.

are there mounts or anything i could buy to mount my plate there and not have to drill holes?

Yea....lemme see if I can find a pic of mine....

Hmm - I hadn't put the bracket back on the new nose in this pic, but if you look where it's dirty in the middle of the grill, that's where the bracket mounts.

duct tape

NastyEllEssWon 05-15-2008 04:06 PM

self tappers, drills or rivets.

its also legal in nj on thirdgens to display in the windshield
because thirdgens are low enough that it complies with the
guidelines of height mounting

I'm willing to bet that he says no.
pretty sure 4th gens are short enough too but you'll still get the ticket, plenty of us have

NastyEllEssWon 05-15-2008 06:30 PM

dont have to, ive gone through inspection like that at the bakers basin
inspection station. my gf also works for the state police and said that
you can beat the ticket if you show up in court. thats beat that youve
gotten tickets for it

maroman88 05-15-2008 06:35 PM

its ok to have it there for inspection, my friend just got his lisence and it was on the test lol. but the cops dont like it up there

Tru2Chevy 05-15-2008 06:59 PM

You don't need a front plate at all to go through inspection - but you can still get a ticket if it's not on the front of your car.

I think they look even uglier and more out of place in the windshield, but that's just my opinion....

sweetbmxrider 05-15-2008 08:30 PM

plus if you get in an accident, thats a nice leading edge for decapitation...if you don't want a ticket, mount it up front where its supposed to be. if you don't care, throw it at a tree

been there, lol

mine is behind the license plate cover on the 4th gen, if i get hassled i tell em i was at a car show or meet and forgot to take the cover off :)

if you dont want to put it on the bumper, just put it in the trunk or something lol. if u put the plate on the dash, johnny law is more likely to pull u over, since that will stand out a bit

String 06-18-2008 11:59 PM

I just got a ticket for that, along with a few other things. have yet to find out how much it costs.

Syzygy 07-19-2008 01:20 PM

i know its not smart, but im going on 3 years without a front plate or inspection sticker with no problems, police just dont seem to want to pull me over.

madness410 07-19-2008 03:14 PM

or youve just got super duper lucky hahah...but i hope it keeps up for you
