NEW BEST @ RACEWAY PARK WITH THE G8 GT!
My son and I went to Raceway Park today for the American Muscle Car Show and Go. We entered the Modern Muscle Car Bracket and after getting 3 passes of 14.00, he hit 13.78 @ 101 mph on his last pass, and of course broke out. These cars have traction like they are glued to the track. Also have the car listed at SLP for use as one of their test cars for new G8 GT parts that they are testing. Hope he gets called, because he gets to keep any parts that they will develop for the model for FREE! :nod:

not too shabby. What was the DA and 60'? Yes these cars are pretty glued to the track for sure. One trick he may have read about at the G8 boards was to keep the trans in 3rd towards the end of the 1/4 to not allow it to shift into 4th. The car in stock form can pass the traps in 3rd and will allow the car to not lose time in the last part of the track.
I think me and him need to run since I am trapping a touch higher and he is ETing 4-100th's quicker. -Brian |

dont do a lower t-stat. lsx motors run like dog crap with em..search ls1tech.
the most common mods on ls motors is a throttle body bypass. check your throttle body if you have a coolant line going through the body. if you do you can bypass it straight to the motor and it brigns the incoming air temps down nice times with the big goat |
DA = Density Altitude.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Density_altitude Basically, the lower the DA, the better (more oxygen for better power). - Justin |
nice , Ed.. im not inot the dragstrip thing but woot nonetheless

At 215 its was 2082 feet. You can get historical wx data at www.wunderground.com and then punch it into a da calculator you can find through a yahoo search or google search. I use the wahiduddin one....

not sure what any free mods are on the g8s tho, when you head to the track, up the front air pressure to 50, a 160* stat,TB bypass and port the TB, remove the maf screen www.ls1howto.com www.installuniversity.com -brandon not bad in +2k DA |
yeah my car runs fine with the 160, dunno what your talkin about
|
I would never port the TB myself and removing the Maf screen only F's your A/F readings up, another one I def don't recommend doing.
Far as the Tstat, never heard of any LSx engines having any trouble running them. But I know its always up for debate... I do notice my LS2 actually seems to run better at normal operating temps than when cold... Very unlike my LT1..... |

The problem you'll run into with a 180 or lower thermostat is the current pcm limitation that limits you to no control over what it does at anything less than 190* so changing to a 160* probably won't do much other than if you are cruising on the highway in cool weather ;)
