kind of a dumb question..

the windshield wipers on my camaro operate at one speed only. anybody know what type of part i would need to make it operate on different speeds?

for some reason im deathly afraid of getting caught in the rain. thanks guys

sweetbmxrider 06-12-2008 08:54 PM

i don't know about 3rd gens but this might work

do you have just a low speed? cuz that link is just really a delay. i thought 3rd gens would have a low and high at least. or delay, low, and high. is yours not functioning correctly?

madness410 06-12-2008 10:01 PM

yeah it just has a low speed...not high, not sure whats wrong with it

BonzoHansen 06-13-2008 10:35 AM

wipers can be tough. I suggest finding a real shop manual and trouble shooting. Probably a bad switch.

RainX & low speed

the only dumb question is the question that goes unasked

when I replaced the motor in my 2nd gen, I found out that the speeds depend on the motor. If you replace the motor, make sure to get one with delay.

Correct, options matter. The later 3rd gens are a different style, but the early 3rds had an older style setup, like the 2nd gen. All sorts of crap there to go wrong. Park mechanisms, blah blah blah. Hate them.

mine was right under the cowl, attached directly to the wipers

Yea, My '87 is a two speed wiper setup and I bought a newer delay motor and a new turn signal stalk to swap in.

Rain-X your windshield and you won't need your wipers at all. LOL

this is true

79CamaroDiva 06-16-2008 02:56 PM

Yeah, but with rain-x, after a while the windshield gets hazy. I never noticed it until i drove in a car without, as I usually use it on my cars. I thought it was my eyes, but turns out it was the rain-x

CaysE 06-16-2008 04:12 PM

It's like wax, you have to buff it and maintain it.

GP99GT 06-16-2008 07:08 PM

dont use rain-x...just wax your windshield.

GP99GT 06-16-2008 07:15 PM

doesnt haze as far as ive seen...i always wax my windshield when i do the rest of the car

plus i use the orange windshield washer fluid whcih has rain-x type stuff in it

He just said it doesn't haze

CaysE 06-16-2008 07:27 PM

I would think wax would affect the optics of the windshield because it's significantly thicker than rain-x. I'm no scientist, though.

GP99GT 06-16-2008 08:42 PM

i havent noticed a difference between wax or rain X...wax is easier because its already there on the shelf

Slo86Bird 06-16-2008 10:18 PM

i use wax also.

madness410 06-16-2008 10:21 PM

arrite ill give wax a shot...but if doesnt treat me as good as mr. rain-x does than im holding everyone personally acountable
