Looks good....I would go for all of your ideas except the badging. Yea it would confuse some people, but I still wouldn't do it.

Pics of the tails?

should be the same engine options in the Opel that the kappas here get, 2.4L n/a ecotec, or 2.0 turbo ecotec.

BigAls87Z28 06-15-2008 12:36 PM

What makes the 2.2 Ecotec garbage?
Right now, the 2.2 VVT Ecotec in the Cobalt with 5spd manual gets the highest gas milage in its class, 36mpg.

V 06-15-2008 08:16 PM

I dont think any of that will get done to my car for quite some time. I wish i could do all these mods right away but.... they are expensive as all hell, thats the down side.
The front valances alone unpainted are $995, and the taillights are $795. The grille is $495. The thing is everything would be getting imported from overseas/europe and that cost plus customs etc is all included in those prices.... i may try to make a custom similar grille this summer... who knows and maybe i'll have my parents buy me the valances for christmas. lol.

I'm gonna say I'm not to crazy about the front end of the Opel, but I do like the tail lights.

i hear they have alot of head problems bad enough that the dealers keep 3 heads in stock and supposedly its a dealer only head cause the engine is made by opel over seas

qwikz28 06-18-2008 10:08 PM

hey al, how different is this 2.2 ecotec from the ones in our old saturn L200? that car has been amazing for us.

Never heard that. I know that the last gen 2.2 OHV engines had some problems, but the Ecotec has been a pretty bullet proof motor so far.
The Ecotec is made all over the globe. I do belive that the majority of the engineering was done by Opel.

The 2.2 that is found in the late Cavi and up to 2007 Cobalt have been the same engine.
The new 2.2 and 2.4 that is showing up more and more are all of teh 2nd generation Ecotecs. They use Variable Valve Timing, and the 3rd gens are already here using direct injection.
4th gen will use GM's new HCCI (Homogenious Charge Combustion Ignition) "diesel" type technology, using no spark to ignite the air fuel mixture under light to medium loads. It's given test cars a 20% increase in fuel econ. Expect the HCCI out soon.

Tru2Chevy 06-19-2008 09:03 PM

Most Ecotec engines are made in NY and Germany.....there is another plant that makes some, but I don't remember where.
