Getting the car tuned tomorrow..

..at TTP. It's a 99 LS1 camaro that I bought in January as my first car. It's a 6SPD, and currently has 175K miles on it. I bought it stock and since January I have been throwing money at it like crazy to make it a full bolt on car. The only bolt on I don't have is an UD pulley but I don't really want one. My mod list is this(starting from the front of the car back): "free ram air", SLP Lid, LS6 intake manifold, MSD wires, NGK Tr55's, Hooker SuperComp Lt's, TSP catted Y-pipe, going to a Magnaflow catback. I have added some appearance mods to it that include the whistler mod, an SS hood, and painting the calipers red. I also added a hurst billet plus shifter. I'm thinking the car should be close to 350 rwhp/360 rwtq, but with mileage, well...we'll see if that plays a factor or not. The car runs strong and oil pressure is great(has had synthetic oil run through it it's entire life). Even though the engine has 175K miles on it, the fact that it has been run using synthetic oils makes me think this car will dyno like it has 75K miles on it since synthetic is supposed to lessen engine wear. We will see, I can't wait. I'll post up how it went tomorrow.

Yea i have pictures, and I'm uploading a video of the car right now. Here's a few pictures of it: Here's what the car looked like when I got ithttp://a235.ac-images.myspacecdn.com...f0c672bec2.jpg And how it looks now: http://a484.ac-images.myspacecdn.com...19a5964653.jpg and here is a picture showing the calipers which I just painted this last weekend: http://a545.ac-images.myspacecdn.com...ea69ce00b8.jpg

The car is extremely clean for the amount of miles it has on it. Plus the whole front end pretty much has new paint on it and that's the only part of the car that really shows any major wear. I could easily pass this car off as a 50K mileage car if I wanted to, but what's the sense in lying. I'll post a link to the video I just took to show how the car sounds once its done uploading.

Just got back and the car put 333HP/338TQ to the rear wheels. I can say I'm happy with the numbers considering the baseline was only 299hp/308TQ. I was kinda shocked by how low the numbers were, but they shut the car down at 5300 because it was running lean so it was probably making about 305/315 to the rear wheels on the stock tune. I must say, for $250 to gain 34hp/30tq, I think that's a bargain. I'm happy and I can really tell the car woke up a lot on the 1-2 shift.

that is one clean car  and you've got some nice numbers to go with it

Where did you take it to get tuned?

NJ346 07-11-2008 06:29 PM

I took it to TTP in Passaic NJ. They are a good hour and half ride from me, but it was worth it. SLP is literally right in my back yard, but I went to TTP. :D Awesome group of guys and they were busy as hell, but Matt still took his time with the tune. I ended up picking up 34HP/31TQ at the wheels :D. I think it's the best $250 I've spent on the car. Now that there really isn't anything I can do to the car without investing a couple of 1k's, I think it's time to sell it and start another f-body project.

So its a dyno tune for 250? Or just a few pulls and no tune? Did you get a wideband hooked up etc?

It's a dyno tune for $250. Cheapest place around, but the tune didn't suffer. I spent about 2 hours on the dyno and got about 5 full pulls and 3 partial pulls(the car was running lean on the stock tune). And yes there was a wideband hooked up. My car seemed to be tuned before some how even though I bought it with no modifications because Matt(the owner and tuner at TTP) had a problem reading the vin in the computer and he said this was a common problem with one of the tuners in the area that used the same vin # on all the cars he tuned. Matt knew how to get the situation fixed and I was overly impressed with the shop. Can't beat the price and customer service, plus it only cost me $33 in gas round trip. I got 23.6 mpg even with them beating the crap outta the car on the dyno :D. I got 27 MPG hwy before the tune, and I think 30MPG hwy can now be achieved.

Yea, they don't care to do much work on LT1s (most shops don't for that matter).

Maybe it's because the LS1 was touched by the hands of god? J/k, Lt1's can make some serious power, they just need more work.
