Ok guys i need some opinions
well as you many know i sold my 93 z28. and now im back to square one finding a car all over again lol. i was thinking about staying with an f body but i am lookin at some others. can i get your opinions to try and help me with my selection.
here are the few im looking at: 1) 04 Hyundai Tiburon GT V6 5 speed 2) 97 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.5 lift on 32s 3) 00 Ram 2500 Lifted on 38s 4) 98 camaro ls1 6 speed t top car i know most guys will say the 98 but ive never driven one before let alone with a 6 speed. is there a big difference from the newer camaros to the lt1 cars |
Each of your choices are drastically differnet.... what do you want out of a vehicle?
|
Camaro...end of discussion.....in 2 years you'll regret not getting it
|
unless you want to spend thousands on replacing your motor and other things, dont get the 98. its the 1st and worst year for LS1 Fbodies. It is a ticking time bomb.

ew why is #1 on there? haha i think you forget you are on an f-body forum...so i would say get the camaro
|
Is this a DD? If so the Tiburon would be the best bet gas wise. .Does it have a warranty?
Dodge Rams are total gas hogs. Unless you are gonna rent your truck out on the weekend to move furniture, forget it! Jeeps are great vehicles, but do you trust the person that jacked it up? Did they do it right? Did they get all the angles right? Did they upkeep the vehicle properly(fluid changes) or did they beat the pis$ out of it? |

I still thought they were the same and didn't change the rod bolts until '99 in both cars, I could be wrong though.
|
did the Vettes get different heads on 98? thats one of the weak points of the Fbodies

as far as being the slowest of 4th gen fbodies, its really not that much slower. maybe a few tenths. I pulled a 12.97@110 on 17" street tires, lid/catback and full weight and my best time (in sig) which wouldve been 11.7-11.8 @ 115-116 pending i had it tuned and my trans wasnt a pos  |
tiburons are the one of the girliest cars i have seen
|
the new motor thats in it was done at bob mcguire chevy up on 130. he said it only had a 1 year warrenty. idk if that sounds right maybe im wrong. but he didnt mention jasper hes not one to cheap out like that
|
ok just talked to him he said the dealer put in a brand new ls1 so i going to say its a gm motor not a jasper
|
Is this Eric the guy i went to high school with who might buy my 355? Its Bill with the '79. I'd say go with the ls1 6 speed. Unless the dodge is a diesel, which I would say either would be a good choice.
|
those are some very different cars you're looking at. Is this going to be your daily?

If you need a DD, get the Camaro or ~gulp~ Tiburon, but I'm sure there are other cars out there that are better on gas and look much better. |

23. My 98 Had an idle adjustment screw and have yet to see one without one 26. Although the gaskets are not reusable I've found that the 99+ waterpump gaskets really should be replaced as the stockers suck, the replacement ones are much better and actually can be considered reusable. Anyone who's done a cam swap on a 99+ will know what I'm talking about. BTW I helped do one a couple of weeks ago so I qualify ;) |
