New intake elbow

1 Attachment(s)
Finally got rid of the stupid stock intake elbow, replaced it with a aluminum one. What do you think?

Tsar 07-31-2008 02:39 PM

I hope you got it for free.

LTb1ow 07-31-2008 02:40 PM

Nope.

Tsar 07-31-2008 02:44 PM

My condolences. :(

LTb1ow 07-31-2008 02:46 PM

I guess my ****** picture taking skills trump me again. It is a powder coated elbow, its supposed to be black. And its a nice little piece of work. I assume you know what the stock one looks like? Much better improvement.

Tsar 07-31-2008 02:51 PM

Oh I know what the stock one looks like, and I do have the same mod done as you do. But I did not notice any positive or even negative effects after I installed it, therefor I concluded long ago that money spent on the elbow was a waste

If you are happy with it, then that's all that counts.

LTb1ow 07-31-2008 02:54 PM

I didn't buy it for performance, sorry if that was implied, I tore my stock one when I pulled the engine apart. Since the stocker and the 1LE variant were around the same price range I figured what the hell might as well get something better.

Tsar 07-31-2008 02:57 PM

In that case Congrats!!!

sweetbmxrider 07-31-2008 03:00 PM

my car came with one, i think its sweet

LTb1ow 07-31-2008 03:11 PM

However, the one downside, is that it was not designed for a 58mm TB. Next upgrade, LSX style!

maroman88 07-31-2008 04:26 PM

i got the same one!

LTb1ow 07-31-2008 04:36 PM

That three people for the crappy intake elbows, what now Tsar?

Tsar 07-31-2008 04:39 PM

Um...I have one too, its just useless, that's all.

LTb1ow 07-31-2008 04:41 PM

I was being humorous there, no need to get worked up. And the whole LT1 air intake setup is a poor design, so its just a piece of the puzzle.

ar0ck 07-31-2008 07:25 PM

It won't rip  I have the same elbow. Although no power benefit, I like how it uses couplings instead of a cheap slip fit like the factory style.

LTb1ow 07-31-2008 07:56 PM

I am liking it too, my only complaint is that it is on the small side.

Jam 07-31-2008 08:01 PM

the stock intake elbow is horrible, rips easily by the brace, not as smooth air flow, but it's definitely a lot better than the stupid accordion ones on the v6s. lol . ? what do you mean you have to upgrade to a new elbow again for a 58mm TB?

LTb1ow 07-31-2008 08:05 PM

I don't "have" to upgrade, its just the elbow I bought is smaller than the 58mm TB. So most likely when I have the time and effort I will make an LSX style air intake and ditch the whole nonsensical system of bends and turns.

Jam 07-31-2008 08:08 PM

yea I'm going to purchase a functional SS hood soon, 58mm Holley/BBK TB (don't know which one yet), and the ram air setup, plus port/polished intake manifold BLAH BLAH.

LTb1ow 07-31-2008 08:09 PM

SS hood eh. 58mm is a bit un needed, same with porting intake.

Jam 07-31-2008 08:14 PM

when you're goin 383 it's needed. and not just an SS hood. the SS hood on steroids by VFN.

LTb1ow 07-31-2008 08:16 PM

Ahh well you didn't mention any of that. I also assume your porting the stock heads? Or else you will be seriously disappointed when you see what kind of numbers your putting down... And I still don't like the SS hood for practical reasons, if your just getting it for looks go for it, but performance wise, eh I would try to set up an LSX style lid etc. Or get an SLP Ultra Z hood. I wish I could afford one of those bad boys.... :(

Jam 07-31-2008 08:43 PM

I'm referring to the VFN 3" SS hood. It's hugeee and mean.

LTb1ow 07-31-2008 08:56 PM

Still routes the air all twisty turny and over the hot engine...

Jam 07-31-2008 09:00 PM

But it's soo sexy!!
