(Good) News to me! Justin probably did not have time to write something up yet.

Tru2Chevy 08-19-2008 03:52 PM

Correct....I was running around watching Jack this morning, and just had enough time to get his banners up.

Those of you who have been around for a while might remember Charlie (1984camaroz28) - he sponsored the site for a little while back when his shop was known as Sick Speed Racing. He and I have talked on and off the last several months about the shop coming back on board as a sponsor, and he has decided to take the plunge. SSP is located in Goshen, NY, which is only ~15 minutes from the NJ border. Most of you in North East and North Central Jersey should have a pretty easy drive to his shop.

I'm sure Charlie will chime in soon with more information about his shop and what he offers.

Charlie is a good guy to deal with, and he is actually really close to the NJ border, I've been over his place a few times before.

LTb1ow 08-19-2008 04:45 PM

Does he do LT1 wideband tuning?

Fleetwiz 08-19-2008 10:37 PM

Cool...fairly close to me maybe 1/2 hour...I'll have to check it out.

qwikz28 08-19-2008 11:17 PM

he did my clutch a couple years back. great work and a great guy to deal with. his shop is minutes from my work so that was mighty convenient.

and as for location, its about 5 minutes from teh woodbury commons. that should be a good way for you guys to gauge where it is

Hi guys i was a sponsor awhile back on here... Had a partner at the time long story but now im back. We Purchased a Mustang Chassis Dyno good to 1500HP. We do alot more work now Cages, N20 Setups, LSX tuning, 96 and up lt1, I also have 2 other tuners that do alot of local Cars 1 only does Hondas and the other does cobalts. We have swaped LT1 cars to LSx setups. Convetered 6cyl cars to ls1 setups. any questions give me a call 845 590 3055.

If you have someone that tunes cobalts, I'm curious to try tuning my 06 HHR 2.4 L mainly for fuel mileage, I've heard cobalt is the same platform.. I'm willing to be a guinnea pig to some extent, but not far enough that it will sacrifice any warranty or leave me stranded.

1984camaroz28 08-20-2008 09:51 PM

his personal car is a SS cobalt that he replaced the blower for a turbo kit.... small turbo ,car is a daily driver. NO meth injection it made 416rwhp on a mustang dyno TOTALLY stock motor. im not shure if are software will cover ur hhr

BigAls87Z28 08-20-2008 09:58 PM

I think you mean FWHP unless he is totally bad ass and some how made his Cobalt RWD.

79CamaroDiva 08-20-2008 09:58 PM

I don't have an SS, so might not. But if he wants to try it, and only if you're both confident in his ability to tune, i'm willing to try. Do you use HP tuners?

1984camaroz28 08-20-2008 10:00 PM

yes FWHP. i will ask him tomorrow and see what he thinks

SteveR 08-20-2008 10:01 PM

Does the non SS Cobalt have the same 2.4L motor as the HHR?

79CamaroDiva 08-20-2008 10:14 PM

that's a question for al. as far as i've heard, the cars are very nearly identical under the body

Yes, should be the same engine. Maybe a little change in engine tuning, but thats about it. Still both 170hp.

Tru2Chevy 08-20-2008 10:55 PM

HP Tuners doesn't list any HHR support on their website....could be a different ECM that they haven't cracked yet.

- Justin

79CamaroDiva 08-20-2008 10:56 PM

its not on the website, but i've seen it on the forums. I've already been in touch with bill :) they don't "support" it, but that doesn't mean it cant be done.

Why does no one like LT1s?

BigAls87Z28 08-21-2008 04:32 PM

Opti and OBD1 for the majority of them.
Its ok, TPI had it for years. Its your turn now.

LTb1ow 08-21-2008 04:33 PM

No fun at all. Damn LS1s

rscamaro73 08-21-2008 04:48 PM

Try and find folks that know how to tweak a Q jet.....

I got one in Philly.

My only beef/concern is some of these dyno places are great when it comes to computers, but when it comes to older cars with carbs (like mine) its like a 'lost art' or something....I'm not bagging this guy here....but I'm just stating something that's been seen quite a bit across the country....
