I put the hurst shifter in

About a month ago I bought a hurst shifter from njgunslinger. I believe its the slp hurst shifter. I put it in. Took me awhile to unbolt everything and put it in. Man does it shift like a whole new animal. I didnt realize until now how sloppy the stock shifter felt. The car goes into each gear so much firmer. Right away you can tell its a whole new shifter. Dont get why gm just didnt make these standard in all cars besides the ws6's and the camaro SS's. Hopefully this week ill get my white hurst shift knob.

 my z came stock with hurst shifter. I don't know what non-hurst feels like. I put a short stick in it and its great! :)

Nice hurst shifter. Because the hurst shifter has a taller plate i had to buy longer bolts.

if you read above she says she does....

i think it was more the clutch than anything. i like to be able to feel my clutch, not push it to the floor just by setting my foot on it

I've been driving with the hurst billet plus on my car for 3 months now and what a difference. Good upgrade for only $25 even though I don't know how good the factory hurst's were.

im going to need to find out from njgunslinger but i believe this is the slp hurst, not the factory hurst. If theres really a difference i would assume the slp would be better than the factory.

No, there was no such thing as a SLP Hurst other than the optioned Hurst Shifter that came from the factory and not SLP. There were two aftermarket hurst's: The Hurst Comp(I believe is discontinued) and then the Hurst Billet Plus.

True that. I have or had a factory hurst in the LS1. Not sure what I did with it .. lol.

Anyways, I don't think its the same as the aftermarket hurst billet.

 dunno, but i know its got it. I even got the fancy dancy hurst shift knob too. And theres nothing sloppy about the way my car shifts gears, they definitely lock into gear and don't go anywhere, but matt's right, his clutches are like trying to move a wall. Going from that to my car is near impossible.

Going from 5 speed HHR to 6 speed camaro and back is also a neat trick. Reverse is different. More than once i've gone into 5th gear in the HHR to try reverse

nothing wrong with that eventually something will stop you.

i do believe that you're giving me way too much credit. I don't do it usually, but has happened. Oh, and i know what you mean by sloppy feel. The HHR is a much "softer" shifter. I actually like the way it feels because it fits the car; smooth riding, smooth shifting. Getting back in my camaro feels like i'm riding in a tin can now, all bumpy and such.

I hear that. Reverse on my 4-speed was pull up & to the left. Reverse on the T56 is simplu to the upper right. The first few weeks I kept trying to find R in the upper left - I never did, lol.
