Horn problems
I'm not sure if it's an electrical problem or not but it's really getting annoying. I installed a grant steering wheel not too long ago in my car and I'm tring to get the horn to work but it wont. The wires are ok and the other day my horn woke up half the block cause it wouldn't stop beeping. I need help asap!

Did the horn work normally before you installed the grant wheel? Any other wiring modifications on your car? Have you checked to make sure that the horn button on your wheel is functioning correctly?

yeah i would check out the wiring in the steering wheel if it was stuck on.

The horn wire is hot all the time and it grounds to the column. If the horn was constant on then I would think that the wire got pinched or shorted to ground. Since you are going to have to take it apart anyway try shorting the horn wire to ground to see if it still works. If not I believe there is a fuse for it.

The fuse is ok and the horn worked on the original steering wheel when you press it in the right spot. I checked the wire and now I don't have power to the horn.

At this point you are going to need to trace the circuit back and find the problem. I suggest if you dont have one already is to get a test light and start poking the wire, or if you have a multimeter/voltmeter use that. And if you have not already, try replacing the fuse. just because it looks OK doesnt mean it is. I have seen a few where they looked good but tested bad, replace and problem solved.
I think you may have a dead short, bad horns now because of a short or an open in one of the wires. |
