refitted my exhaust...

Ever since i got my QTP LTs, ive had trouble with getting the supplied y pipe to fit properly. I had been running it since with all types of leaks and clearence issues. Well after ripping the y pipe back on speedbumps and a trailer, and then blowing it off during a fullthrottle blast, i had to do something.
Yesterday i completely pulled the y pipe off the car and took it apart down to all the 5 peices. Once i had done that, i noticed a stupid mistake i made when i first assembled the car in spring of 2007. With the LT y pipe and collector adapter to the catback, the intermediate pipe doesnt need to be as long and needs to be cut back. well from last year constantly tyring to assemble and fit the exhaust, i somehow forgot that i never cut the pipe back to the proper size. yes this may seem insignificant, but now imagine about a foot worth of a 3" catback pipe inside a 4" collector(which actually opens up to almost 5-6". The exhaust flow must have been so screwed up in the collector. it would have blown past the pipe a foot then bounced back causing turbulance. So yesterday i finally cut the pipe back properly and makde sure all the slip-fit connections were on nice and tight. i believe i got all the exhaust leaks now, and i immediately noticed the car sounds even louder now with the full exhaust coming out the rear.

next weekend i may try to hit the track and see if my !stereo and fixed exhaust will give me any gains over previous times.
