UFC = Desperate?

How can Brock Lesner be the feature of anything?

Because he was in the WWE therefore more people see the advertisements and say "HEY I KNOW HIM MAYBE I SHOULD WATCH IT" its all marketing

SteveR 11-05-2008 11:08 PM

Lets see if he can last longer than Kimbo Slice

BigAls87Z28 11-06-2008 02:21 AM

I just saw it on TV. Meh, dont know anything about it.

NastyEllEssWon 11-06-2008 06:21 AM

i order every ufc payper view anyway. a few friends of mine just chip in and come over and have some beers and watch away. the coutrer lesnar fight should be a good one. the rampage/griffin fight was pretty good actually lets hope this one follows suit

MonmouthCtyAntz 11-06-2008 07:22 AM

1. Brock lesner was a national championship wrestler several times. 2. He completely dismantled heath herring who was a crafty pride veteran who has fought the whos who in the hevyweight division (fedor, big nog, etc, etc). Try doing a little research.....

mc73nova 11-06-2008 07:36 AM

I was a little iffy about it, when they announced the fight. I am like nastyls1, me and a group of friends order it and I haven't missed one in a long time. I can't wait for Dec 27th it is going to be crazy.

Yea Randy will definately have the cage experience but their wrestleing is equal if not brocks being better plus brocks much bigger. Think the clinch game is going to be the key for randy to win(dirty boxing)...Brocks stand up is blocky still, pretty straight forward It will be very easy for Randy to find holes in it and expose it. For all of you guys that dont know Brock was a bad ass dude way before that wwe crap which he quit mainly because it was fake.

NastyEllEssWon 11-06-2008 07:47 AM

the lesnar coutre fight is going down on nov 15th

I know, but dec 27th is going to be just insane.

Griffin/Evans
Nuguera/Mir
Silva/Jackson

are the three headliner fights!

T96-Iroc-z 11-06-2008 08:07 AM

Yea Lesnar was Disgusting in college....he needs work but if he gets his martial arts down he'll be disgusting in the ufc....but i am not impressed with his performance and last win...but i know hes capable of doing some serious damage if he learns it...

I believe Griiffin is too tough and crafty for Evans...Besides him catching Liddell in his last fight he has looked mediocre at best. Big Nog and Mir will be a snoozefest...they both have a good ground game w/ a decent at best stand up. Niether has KO power and neither will beat Randy and both will sub Lenser like Mir aready has in seconds. So lets hope Couture wins..Silva has annihilated rampage 2 times already so i was say he has Jacksons card. Some say Jackson has improved, but they both have and Silva is obvioulsy a bad matchup ..I dont really see much change in that fight.

NJSPEEDER 11-06-2008 09:17 AM

I know who he has fought before, but I don't see him as one of the best fighters. Herring also admitted after the fight that he took Lesnar lightly too.

He only has 3 fights under his belt as a pro, how does that make him title worthy?

LOL what did you expect Herring to say, he has switched camps since pride and was in the best shape of his life...Dana White is no Gary Shaw, if he didnt think that Lesner wasnt worthy of being there he wouldnt be...If Lesner isnt a top heavyweight then tell me who is in the UFC...Big Nog should have lost to Herring via kick to the head but was lucky he had a forgiving ref. Tim Sylvia kicked his ass all around the cage until he pulled gaurd and got him in a sub. Mir since his motorcycle crash has been a human punching bag and was about to loose to Lesner until he caught him in a leg lock...Werdum just got ktfo by some guy no one ever heard of, Gonzaga already got owned by Randy, and Konga is like a turtle off his back....The UFC let there 2 best heavyweight go w/ Arlovski and Sylvia. Lesner is no Kimbo...

NJSPEEDER 11-06-2008 10:37 AM

Maybe they would be better served to pull a trick out of Pride's bag and have non title fights involving their champion. Having someone with only 3 fights, and only 2 wins, fighting for a belt stinks of the mess that professional boxing suffered under for years.

I rather watch fights that go some rounds, I don't like getting all hyped up for a 1 minute fight. Unless it is an upset like last night in the WEC. Uriya Faber got owned by Mike Brown, I was loving that.

I do agree with you though, Griffin is to complex and tough for Evans.

I think the UFC's doing just fine...Pride was garbage, half of the roster was japanese fighters you never heard of...hence why some of the pride "stars" looked so good over there and stink/stunk in the UFC. 2 wins or not, without Arlovski,Barnett,Fedor, Aleks E. and Tim Sylvia there Lesnar is at the top of the heap as far as the UFC is concerned...Plus hes marketable, his presence has drawn in wwe fans as well.

bcgetfresh 11-06-2008 11:03 AM

Anyone who has watched the few fights brock lesnar has fought knows hes a great fighter. Hes new to the game and is still better than ANY other heavyweight IMO. How could you even compare him to kimbo, thats a joke. Once he gets some more experience he will be the anderson silva of the heavyweights...

mc73nova 11-06-2008 11:06 AM

Kimbo's name should be erased from fighting history. He is a little bitch.

NJSPEEDER 11-06-2008 11:06 AM

He obviously has talent, but I think a Silvia comparison is premature.

I just have a flashback to what boxing was doing in the 80's when they would get these flash in the pan guys, with less than 10 professional fights under their belt, and then put them in title fights. It made for a lot of terrible fights and no one with consistent credentials could make it to the top because it was more about marketing than proven talent.

Hopefully I am wrong, but it just looks bad on the surface.

MonmouthCtyAntz 11-06-2008 11:47 AM

Yea I dont know about the A.Silva comparison either...My father is a boxing historian so i was brought up big w/ the sport but compared to mma its a snoozefest. Theres only a handful of boxers im even interested in watching nowadays. Shouldnt even be compared to MMA. I dont think it looks like a boring fight on the surface by any means..Neither will be going for a submission. By the looks of it Lesner seems to have heavy hands. Not so sure how he can take a punch, supposedly the now defunct Elite XC's Brett Rodgers said he ko'd Lesner in training w/ a few light punch's lol. Not to take anything away from Rodgers he a big dude w/ an 8-0 record who can definate throw some heat and probably ko anyone w/ the right punch...but who knows? W/ the Crocop flop and the loss of Tim Sylvia and Arlovski hopefully Lesner will bring a breath of fresh air into the division.

NastyEllEssWon 11-06-2008 12:56 PM

its the perfect marketing for a title fight. seasoned veteran vs up and coming monster. i think this is going to be a good fight. You also have to look at their techniques Brawler/Technical fighter the fight can go either way. Coutre needs to stay away from Lesners mellee's and get lesner on the ground...or at least slow him down like Griffin did to Rampage by chopping at his legs in the first two rounds. I think its going to be a good one.

jims69camaro 11-06-2008 05:19 PM

yeah, he's always got the "puncher's chance", but does he deserve a shot at the title? i don't think so. two fights, one that he lost, is a very short history - i don't care how much of a "next big thing" he was. i don't think he's got a shot at winning, either. these people who study one discipline for most of their lives, then all of a sudden want to hitch themselves to the rising UFC star. they never go very far.
