UFC = Desperate?
How can Brock Lesner be the feature of anything?
-Tim |
Because he was in the WWE therefore more people see the advertisements and say "HEY I KNOW HIM MAYBE I SHOULD WATCH IT" its all marketing
|
Lets see if he can last longer than Kimbo Slice
|
I just saw it on TV. Meh, dont know anything about it.
|
i order every ufc payper view anyway. a few friends of mine just chip in and come over and have some beers and watch away. the coutrer lesnar fight should be a good one. the rampage/griffin fight was pretty good actually lets hope this one follows suit
|
1. Brock lesner was a national championship wrestler several times. 2. He completely dismantled heath herring who was a crafty pride veteran who has fought the whos who in the hevyweight division (fedor, big nog, etc, etc). Try doing a little research.....
|
I was a little iffy about it, when they announced the fight. I am like nastyls1, me and a group of friends order it and I haven't missed one in a long time. I can't wait for Dec 27th it is going to be crazy.

Griffin/Evans Nuguera/Mir Silva/Jackson are the three headliner fights! |
Yea Lesnar was Disgusting in college....he needs work but if he gets his martial arts down he'll be disgusting in the ufc....but i am not impressed with his performance and last win...but i know hes capable of doing some serious damage if he learns it...

I know who he has fought before, but I don't see him as one of the best fighters. Herring also admitted after the fight that he took Lesnar lightly too.
He only has 3 fights under his belt as a pro, how does that make him title worthy? |

Maybe they would be better served to pull a trick out of Pride's bag and have non title fights involving their champion. Having someone with only 3 fights, and only 2 wins, fighting for a belt stinks of the mess that professional boxing suffered under for years.

I do agree with you though, Griffin is to complex and tough for Evans. |

Anyone who has watched the few fights brock lesnar has fought knows hes a great fighter. Hes new to the game and is still better than ANY other heavyweight IMO. How could you even compare him to kimbo, thats a joke. Once he gets some more experience he will be the anderson silva of the heavyweights...
|
Kimbo's name should be erased from fighting history. He is a little bitch.
|
He obviously has talent, but I think a Silvia comparison is premature.
I just have a flashback to what boxing was doing in the 80's when they would get these flash in the pan guys, with less than 10 professional fights under their belt, and then put them in title fights. It made for a lot of terrible fights and no one with consistent credentials could make it to the top because it was more about marketing than proven talent. Hopefully I am wrong, but it just looks bad on the surface. |
Yea I dont know about the A.Silva comparison either...My father is a boxing historian so i was brought up big w/ the sport but compared to mma its a snoozefest. Theres only a handful of boxers im even interested in watching nowadays. Shouldnt even be compared to MMA. I dont think it looks like a boring fight on the surface by any means..Neither will be going for a submission. By the looks of it Lesner seems to have heavy hands. Not so sure how he can take a punch, supposedly the now defunct Elite XC's Brett Rodgers said he ko'd Lesner in training w/ a few light punch's lol. Not to take anything away from Rodgers he a big dude w/ an 8-0 record who can definate throw some heat and probably ko anyone w/ the right punch...but who knows? W/ the Crocop flop and the loss of Tim Sylvia and Arlovski hopefully Lesner will bring a breath of fresh air into the division.
|
its the perfect marketing for a title fight. seasoned veteran vs up and coming monster. i think this is going to be a good fight. You also have to look at their techniques Brawler/Technical fighter the fight can go either way. Coutre needs to stay away from Lesners mellee's and get lesner on the ground...or at least slow him down like Griffin did to Rampage by chopping at his legs in the first two rounds. I think its going to be a good one.
|
yeah, he's always got the "puncher's chance", but does he deserve a shot at the title? i don't think so. two fights, one that he lost, is a very short history - i don't care how much of a "next big thing" he was. i don't think he's got a shot at winning, either. these people who study one discipline for most of their lives, then all of a sudden want to hitch themselves to the rising UFC star. they never go very far.
