Finally!

Somehow my luck changed today, and after 5 hours of an uphill battle, the Chevelle is officially a 4-speed.

Proof:

Still have some adjustments to make to the crossmember, engine accessories, line locks, cut the floor for shifter, some random things, and 500 miles of break in.

sweetbmxrider 11-23-2008 08:02 PM

its lookin good under there! what did you convert from?

bad64chevelle 11-23-2008 08:04 PM

Thanks! Went from a blown th350 built by a "reputable" builder in the SJ area, to a TH350 that worked fine, but I wanted to go back to a 4speed for nostalgia.

EDIT* I also gotta thank Bonzo, The Hammer, Crazyblazer87, and my dad for all their help today.

WildBillyT 11-23-2008 08:16 PM

Congrats Jon! I know it was a long time coming.

rscamaro73 11-23-2008 08:29 PM

Looks good in there. :)

bad64chevelle 11-23-2008 08:30 PM

Thanks Bill, yeah it was just really frustrating me sitting there, and I got the bug to start working on it last week.

You know if you had sold him a nice light aluminum cased ST10 my life would have been easier. :-P

bad64chevelle 11-23-2008 08:52 PM

Would that be before or after I broke the aluminum one? :-) Thanks again Scott.

WildBillyT 11-23-2008 09:04 PM

That's an iron cased ST-10?

BonzoHansen 11-23-2008 09:05 PM

Yes, he painted it.

Oh ok. I was wondering why everyone was saying "trans jack this, trans jack that etc." for an ST-10.

BigAls87Z28 11-23-2008 09:09 PM

Where did you get that sweet ass lift? And when can I bring my cars over?!?!

chrisfrom nj 11-23-2008 09:10 PM

looks great when are you going to finish it

crazyblazer87 11-23-2008 09:10 PM

Man and to think he was officially giving up like 1 minute before he got it to finally sit in there.....

Yeah, plus my shoulder is in desperate need for surgery, but I am pushing it off. Holding a trans with the risk of it blowing out isn't fun.

bad64chevelle 11-23-2008 09:26 PM

 no you're not. Yeah....maybe before Jan 1 it can see some miles. At least I hope.

PolarBear 11-24-2008 01:13 PM

So was it the clutch disk keeping it from going back in properly? I would have liked to be there but BTK79 had already asked me to help on the house. Glad to see it in!
BTW what number in line am I?

I actually do not know what the problem was, it was most likely the disk that kept moving around too much. If its a project that is a one day thing, let me know. Once the car runs, I will pull it off the lift for a day...weather pending.

HAHA, I am mostly kidding. The exhaust on the 91 rattles now in the back for some reason and the intermediate pipe hangs a little low near the rear. I would like to pull it out and trim it a little. I tried to get it apart last time I was under the car but it is too tight. I think I am going to need a little help getting the pipes seperated. I probably wont do much on the car for the rest of the winter (maybe a wash  ). I need to get the crosslace wheels and the tires for them mounted since I dont want to spend money on 2 tires for the R15's
Your car needs to be finished, we can worry about mine later. Let me know if you want help, I am good at supervising, getting beer, pointing out what you have done wrong or where flaws are etc. I CAN work on them too, I can do these basics

I will let ya know, I will be working most every night this week I believe. Sit there and point at flaws, and you can choose which acre of the 15 out here that I bury you in

But seriously, if you want to come out and hang out its fine with me. I know Hammer, and Crazyblazer will be out here quite a bit now working on their stuff.
