if the diagonal strap that he had going toward the front of the car had gone straight down, instead, and he had a strap going over the windshield to the front bumper from the handle bars, he might have been ok. it's important to load the suspension on at least the front wheel to make sure that the strap is going to hold the bike upright.

in any case, i bet he was cursing from the car all the way back to the pieces of his bike...
