**** You Gas Prices

In the mouth.
When the Jews and Palistine started killing each other, some how that affected gas prices even though neither of them are oil producing nations.
Oil shot up to just under 50 bucks a gallon, and within a few days gas prices spiked up 10 cents or more a gallon.
Oil is now just above 40 bucks a barrel, yet nothing has moved.

baddest434 01-09-2009 05:11 PM

quit cryin it's still under 2 bucks a gallon
i see your point though Al.

sweetbmxrider 01-09-2009 05:12 PM

.......its a big game al, that is all.......

BigAls87Z28 01-09-2009 05:18 PM

Id ont mind the price, in fact I support a rise of 10-15 cents a gallon for increase in gas tax.
My point is the rise in prices has no basis, and now that markets realize this, and oil has gone down, but prices havent.

NJSPEEDER 01-09-2009 05:27 PM

Prices are going back up because OPEC voted to cut production 2 weeks ago. It has nothing to do with Israel and Palestine.

Of course, all of this could be solved if our own government would dislodge it's collective head from OPEC's ass and start drilling and start working towards oil and fuel independence. But that will never happen as long as 5 hippies cry for the endangered sand tick or whatever the latest stupid excuse is.

And for those that don't know, yes, the United States is a member of OPEC.

if we could just save one life, anything is worth it...

Jersyboyy 01-10-2009 01:23 AM

I say get rid of the the 5 main hippies and push for drilling and see if any more come out of the woodwork, after 10 or 15 big head hippies gone bye bye they wont bother protesting any more.

BigAls87Z28 01-10-2009 01:27 AM

Or we could not, and just move to E85.

Crayface 01-10-2009 01:46 AM

beer is cheaper than gas.

BigAls87Z28 01-10-2009 02:48 AM

Uh, no its not.
Show me a gallon of beer for 1.45.
Compared to every other liquid we use on a daily basis, maybe only water is cheaper.

MonmouthCtyAntz 01-10-2009 08:19 AM

Hope it stays under 2 bucks a gallon.

Why would you want to move to a fuel that takes more machining, processing, and energy waste to create just to drive up our food prices? Pay at shop right or pay at the pump, and let me tell ya I need to eat before I need to drive to school.

Neg, it does none of that.
Ethanol made from corn blows
Ethanol made from switchblade grass and other wasteful weeds yeild much higher volumes of ethanol, with half the energy.
Problem is people like yourself equate ethanol = corn, so commodity markets capitalize off the ignorance and rase prices.
Ethanol made from the multitude of non-corn is much better and a hell of a lot easier to manufacture then corn based.
Better then going to the beach and seeing 3 oil rigs on the horizion.
Third world nations do it, but America sits back and does nothing.

I wouldn't be proud of knowing that. Not at all.

1st world countries also have water conservation mandated, but we don't do that either. It's mostly out of necessity; "We don't need to so why should we?"

I don't think farmers in the south west would agree with that, they are just beginning to conserve and manage water. It takes far less water to make a gallon of ethanol from switch grass than form corn. We have no use for it otherwise so it wouldn't impact many other markets like what corn did.

Ethanol certainly does increase prices at the dinner table and fails to deliver on any of it's promises Al.

Most of the Ethanol used for fuel in the world is made from corn because of convenience. We have a lot more farmers that are set up and ready to produce fuel yield corn than cultivating slower growing grass products. These farmers are ready made because so much of the food and industry in this country is corn based. Now you convert a farm from food and byproduct production to fuel grass or non food corns and watch the price of dinner sky rocket.

Ethanol is also a failure at the pump because it is financially damaging to the consumer. Like it or not, ethanol comes with an increase in consumption without any sort of reduction in cost. People bitch and moan about being an oil based society, then why would it be logical to cause a consumption increase with the 10-15% mixes required by law?

Ethanol is a complete waste of time. Wasting billions of dollars to push a lower thermal yield energy source on America doesn't help anyone outside of the ethanol lobby.

If the US, or any other government, was interested in honest reductions in consumption of fuel and cleaner tail pipe emissions, the push would be for modern diesel technology, propane, and making whole cars aimed at fuel efficiency instead of just telling the car companies to improve mileage and emissions while hamstringing them with rules that make cars heavier and less efficient all based on 20+ year old outdated technologies and ideas

I wasn't talking about water conservation in that sense, but I see your point. I meant in our day to day lives. In Australia the toilets have 2 buttons, 1 using more water than the other. I'll let you figure out why. They collect rain water in containers holding thousands of gallons (liters actually) and use that for drinking water, etc.

There's also "E10" at the pumps down there and while it's like 6c cheaper/L (~23c/gal) there are stories on the news where while you're paying less you're getting less out of it (pronounced inefficient.)

NJSPEEDER 01-10-2009 04:30 PM

If you look on any pump in America there is an Ethanol Content Statement. The government here did the same thing to us, but didn't give anyone a choice in the matter. Just ****ed us in the wallet without even the courtesy of dinner or a kiss goodnight.

You will also note that since the introduction of ethanol in fuel in the US, gas prices never went down, none of the environmentally motivated taxes on gas have been relieved, and cars are still not being made specifically to run more efficiently on the lower quality fuels.

Of course, more money for them. Playing off our ignorance
