Anyone have R/C toys?

Just wanting to see how many people have any R/C toys. My dad and I both have nitro boats and cars. I have a Team Losi XXX NT stadium truck with over 950+ mods. New OS. motor rims always new tires can keep a pare for more than a week with tred. i've seen mini blowers for the cars i'm looking into getting one for it. My dad has a Team Losi XXX NT Adam drake Edition stadium truck. he has well over 1250+ into his. they both hit over 75+MPH from what we have been able to. theres no room to open it up. I also have a BlackJack26 nitro boat no work done to it yet but so much fun. maybe 40+MPH stock its not to bad needs a bigger prop and i want a bigger motor later on. my dads is a 27 Hammer i think? still in the box didnt get to smoke him yet. but what do you guys have?

I got an Hobbico Superstar RC plane. I havent flown in years though buy my new co worker is hard core into th Rc world. So i may bet back into flying and maybe look into a nitro car

BigRocsFirebird 01-13-2009 05:54 PM

yeah planes are very hard my grandfather builds them takes months but they are so good. hes in the papers and shows i would never try them he keeps asking but i would be afraid hit something. but cars are alot of fun

Mike 01-13-2009 06:16 PM

the superchargers are a waste on the 2stroke motors....more of a gimmick than anything.

i got a revo from one of the members here recently and have been getting pretty into it

LTb1ow 01-13-2009 06:23 PM

I have a Baja Champ, and a 1st gen Emaxx. And a submarine.

My son has a Stadium truck I think it's a Losi. That little thing rips, esp. after we upgraded the motor. Every time we go into the Hobby shop I'm tempted to pick up one of them P-51's or the Corsair, but I know I'd wreck it.

NJ346 01-13-2009 06:36 PM

I have a traxxas T-max with an OS engine in it, but the whole front end is all busted up because of a run in at the beach with a wooden post. I did the redneck thing and about 5 zipties later I was able to rig up the suspension enough that the truck still rolls and does 40 mph. I also have a Losi LST2 that is an absolute beast.

if anyone has any tracks, bmx tracks, or other cool spots around them we could set up a little get together

I know that Jackson has a nice setup. Probably wouldn't be too bad of a haul for you to get there. I've personally never been there, but I've heard that it was a pretty good track in the state. I was big into RC stuff about 2 years ago, but since I got the Camaro the stuff just kind of sits on the shelf in the garage. I only run them now every once in a while. I also have a boat that does 35 mph and shoots out a 20 foot rooter tail. These things are fun and I find tuning them is also a lot of fun because of how much mph you can pick up from such a small adjustment of the carburator. I run both trucks once a year at a campground in cape may that runs a little event and often I'm the one tuning everyones ***** because a lot of people just spend $400+ and expect the thing to need no work, but that's not the case.

yeah that would be alot of fun to get a bunch of people togeather and mess around. i have to retune mine. and get my carb back on right. i got it running then all i hear is a loud pop like one of my guns. the carb blew off the top i guess backpressure lol. i think i need a new servo for the throttle to i havent ran them in close to 2 years. i've been trying to get them togeather but i've been so busy. i need to spend a weekend and get them running right. to much money laying around.

i was going to say beachcomber and i clicked the link and yea its beachcomber. i had a parkmodle for 7 years i had the big blue golf cart. it was the biggest in the campground.

rscamaro73 01-13-2009 07:06 PM

Back in 91 I got a Kyosho Stinger 4wd 1/10 scale gas buggy. OS-CZ .10 motor, Futaba 2 channel grip radio, bump starter w/12V battery....boxes of spare parts from 'oops' fun times. I'd drive it around til it broke, never took more than 1/4 gal of fuel to do it too. Actually threw the rod once as I landed a jump. Had over a grand into it back then....sold what I had left (most of it) for like $200 back in 01 or so.

I'd love to get into it again, but it isn't cheap. But the tech is nice. CV joints instead of 'dog bones'.....recoil and electric starters, 2 speed + transmissions, REAL disc brakes, etc. Plus the motors are out of the world. I had even gone with aluminum front shocks and adjustible rear shocks, revalved them and custom shock fluid, different tires, bearings in the whole thing, etc.

I'd like to get into some boats. But that too is $$$ 8-)

haha, yea. I'm pretty sure the motor in my $650 losi is shot because I ran it there last year and I flipped it and the air filter fell off while the truck continued to run. Ever since then I've been having a problem with it wanting to stay running more than 2 minutes at a time. I have 3/4 of fuel left and I bought that stuff back in like summer of 07. Goes to show how much I really use this stuff. The boat uses 12 ounces of fuel like nothing because it's got a .32 engine in it.

Mike- Traxxas engines absolutely suck when trying to learn how to tune. Do you know if you have the 2.5 or 3.3 motor?

Blackbirdws6 01-13-2009 07:11 PM

I have a HPI nitro RS4. It's pretty old and I have no idea where it is. I remember it was just about totally modded with a nasty novarossi engine. Never could get it to run right. I should get back into it.

BigRocsFirebird 01-13-2009 07:11 PM

so much money in these cars/boats but every part we break we buy another 10 of haha we go threw parts fast. i twisted my dads dog bone in half it was steal to just tore it appart on a wheelie. i can't count how many control arms i've broke and spares i have of them. the worst was snapping the pivit block on the rear. had to take everything off the rear what a mess.

NJ346 01-13-2009 07:17 PM

The boat was the first RC thing that I got that was nitro powered. Needless to say, that engine did not get broken in properly. I started it up and was in love with the sound of the tuned pipe it had on it and was on atleast 3/4 throttle the whole first tank, yet somehow it still runs great and is super easy to tune. For about the first year I never touched the needles and was running the boat extremely lean, then one day I decided that I would mess with them and the boat nearly doubled in speed. Whenever I run it at the campground I get a big crowd because it's just so loud and it's not too often you see something 3ft long going 35+ mph. When we had our boat I ran it out in the Barnegat Bay and Toms River and the boat would constantly end up 3ft out of the water. Just thinking about it makes me want to get back into it, but it's just too much money. If i wasn't in school and had a good paying job I would get back into it.

BigRocsFirebird 01-13-2009 07:21 PM

yeah i always ran mine and sometimes earlie in the morn i would crack the tuned pipe open just a little. makes so much noise and all the people come out lol i mean it was 8-9 most people are up. but they scream so loud and i love how this one kid comes up everytime. can i drive it? sorry dude its not worth risking a few hundred on you. they get all mad its like sorry its mine i payed for it and i don't want some 8 year old ****ing it up. or they throw rocks at it really pisses me off.

DaSkinnyGuy 01-13-2009 07:22 PM

wow beachcomber camprground what a sight, my family has a park model trailer there for the summer time.

NJ346 01-13-2009 07:25 PM

haha, I am pretty good at controlling the losi because it has a really good radio and steering servos and when it was running good I used to always run it right on the shoreline like 2 ft from the water just to get the uhhhs and ahhhs haha. The reason I got into Rc's was becasue I met this kid there from Pennsylvania(yes, they were rednecks), and the kid had a whole lineup of cars but he had this $2000 gas boat that was supposedly able to do 100 mph. He had it in the lake at the campground but was having tuning problems, but he still was able to make a pass in the low 70mph range. After that, I was hooked.

I think it was. It was a younger kid running it with his father being the pit crew.

haha, back then I didn't know a damn thing about these things, and I was probably only like 13 or 14 then since I'm only 17 now.

haha, small world. I spent 95% of my money on the Z28 last year and it's not looking any better this year. Rc's will still be on the back burner. The T-maxx probably wont be fixed until the week before the beachcomber trip.
