If your gonna go with strobes, go with federal signal, much better quality IMO, but If our going with dash/deck/visor lights then whelen is your better choice.
I have these in my car:

On the dash: http://www.whelen.com/images/Dash_an...eb/slpmmrb.jpg

in the Head lights:

sweetbmxrider 01-18-2009 08:26 PM

i'd mount them up high over the rearview. thats me personally.

maroman88 01-18-2009 10:52 PM

sweetbmxrider 01-21-2009 06:11 PM

Buying & using are 2 different things.

When I was doing inspections that state said permanently mounted lights needed permits - and IIRC the color mattered too. No permits we had to fail the vehicle. I was told using them in public w/o permit may also be a moving violation, but I'm not sure about that, 2nd hand info.

Edit: I found this. "temporarily attached, removable..."

From a firefighter, You do need to have a permit for any type of light that is mounted and/or hidden, A guy almost got kicked off in my station for not having a permit while operating his light. Now for the colors, easy, no red or green lights at all. some stations allow red if your an officer. Green means command, big trouble if you use that one. Also at my station no sirens at all. Bonzo, that pdf. is correct but, no one follows half those rules, I know people with 5+ light on/in their car.< We Identify those types as "Wackers"
