Gran Torino - warning spoilers

was a f---ing awesome movie! clint eastwood is STILL the man! definately worth checking out..great blend of drama, comedy and a bit of action..i thought it would be good, but i walked outta the theatre with it exceeding my expectations. it just go to show clint is still just as awesome in front of the camera at age 78, as he is behind it in the director's chair... i highly recommend checking it out! anyone see it??

i was disappointed in some of the asians' acting. it appeared forced in some scenes, and that really ruined the scene enough to become a distraction. if you haven't seen the movie yet, these are possible spoilers (although i don't see how):

perfect example: when he locked toad in the basement and the kid was supposed to be throwing a tantrum to be let out... it was so forced it ruined what should have been a good scene. there were plenty of other scenes, more than i care to count. toad's sister did ok, especially when she showed up beaten and bruised. veteran actors played his sons, but i don't think those relationships were explored enough for him to say "I have more in common with these gooks than I do with my own family..."

of course, clint's acting is beyond reproach. he pulls things off with ease what other actors would have trouble with. i'd give it three out of five stars, and it only gets the three because of clint.

Hey jim, I suggest you mark your post with some sort of warning for spoilers or something there's people who haven't seen it yet that could read your post etc.

I totally agree on that part, It was funny? to watch such bad acting at that part...I think funny is the right word, although some might replace that word with another

while the Hmong people werent the best actors...I tend to think it actually made it all the more realistic..It really did seem it was Clint and a bunch of immigrants that spoke no english, and knew nothing of american culture...much as Clint knew nothing of their culture and lifestyle. Sounds weird..but it make sense if you think about it. there was a legitimate 'barrier' between the two, and the 'lack of acting' on the Hmong characters parts, reflects that tension on screen much better.

i don't agree. bad acting is bad acting. post production can only do so much with it...
