AAA question...
 

I am on the AAA Plus thing with my family, and was wondering if anyone has any idea how the "100 miles" of towing works... bear with me here:

I was wondering if it's possible to have a vehicle towed from one residence to another residence, easily inside 100 miles. I looked on the website and it says up to 100 miles of towing, but it doesn't state where. Does it HAVE to be a garage? Or can I just tell them it's a garage... I can't see how it would really be fraud because not every place I've ever been towed to has been a AAA facility (got towed from school to my house once, then from my house to a shop a few weeks later).

AAA requires a car to be registered. So it will need plates and the driver may ask to see current registration. That said, yes, they will tow to a residence. IIRC there is a change per mile after 100.

I had my Z towed via AAA+ to my house when I bought it.

I just called triple AAA yesterday, I wanted to tow my car home from State College PA to Newton NJ, about 200 miles. They wanted to charge me 4 dollar PER mile.... They will tow anywhere, as long as you pay them.


I will be cancelling their useless services.

There have been posts on this before. The general consensus is that they will tow anything anywhere as long as they charge it as an emergency call.

I am a special case, in that they gave me **** about towing from my house to a garage, saying that "they are an emergency service, not a towing company" so I had to drive the car around the corner and say I broke down.

yeah just call down the street from where you want them to pick it up. AAA is worthless unless you dont use it for a year and upgrade to the plan everyone is talking about AAA plus. most of the times its like free towing for up to 100 miles and 10 bucks a mile thereafter

Hmm well the car is kind of disabled, I still have tags/reg/ins on it so hmm... If I had a trailer I'd just tow the damn thing but I don't presently. Thanks for the insight guys.

When squirrel had the TA he would use them all the time to tow him back and forth to school lol... does the same with the jeep when it breaks down

push it to the side of the street call them and tell them you broke down have them towed to where ever you want it.

Yes, this is the best course of action.

I've used AAA's services for myself or a friend I was with at least 7 or 8 times over the past 10 years, and I've never once had a driver ask for registration....most don't even ask to see my AAA card. I've had my car picked up from the street in front of my house before as well.

well that 100 miles is PER TOW, if you have a car towed twice 60 miles...it will be free both times on a plus. Basic members only get 3 miles then a 4/mile charge, plus gets 100 and 3/mile after that. so if you ned to go 200 miles on a basic your looking at $784, plus member it would be $300.

to answer your question...ALWAYS tell them you broke down and have to get to work

Just tell them it is broken down/undrivable. No need to push any thing in to the street. Cars break down in driveways too.
