4th Gen Turn Signals problem
Hey,
Currently deployed for a year, hope someone on here can help me out. Every time I replace the Turn Signal Bulbs in my vehicle they burn out, also the flasher unit has had to be replaced at least three times over the last year. The passenger side fog lamp assembly got a little too much water on a trip back from PA and ended up shorting out. That was fixed by a dealer but they didn't mention if there could be after effecs. Maybe this is a side effect of the fog lamp issue, not really sure. The probem didn't start happening until after the fog lamp issue. Any ideas or suggestion would be welcome, thanks |
they all blow out or just one particular bulb? wire insulation could have corroded and is shorting out the circuit.

turn signals on these things are pretty problematic. found out after owning my car for 6 months that neither of my turn signals work at all.
awaiting my new headlight motor gears to replace my turn signal sockets. hopefully they'll work then. |

Check the harness grounds as well for corrosion. Don't forget the tail light lamps and harness as well. All are kind of a PITA but start by checking all the sockets to see if they are burnt and work from there. |

and from what the others have said below, it is probably the sockets which haven't been checked after the fog light incident. I will start there since that is the easiest thing to check and see where it goes, thanks to everyone who posted up. |
autozone carries sockets for $8 if that's your problems. a lot better than like $50+ for them from GM.

Enjoy the new gears, I am sure they won't strip like the plastic ones, hope you get yours working soon Thanks for the suggestion about Auto Zone and for saving me the $50.00 from the dealer dealer = Take it easy |
yeppp. part # is 85881. if you look up the vehicle they won't come up. only thing is you'll have to splice em in yourself, but i think that's worth $40 bucks per side haha.

cool, thanks man.

check to make sure there isn't moisture getting in the lense/socket. they have like a foam "oring" to prevent that. give it a good eye and see if anything in particular looks out of place
|
Thanks for all of your input into this thread, I will check the sockets when I get back.
