LT1 car to LS1 swap
anyone have any experience or knowledge on this? I am about to swap an LS1 from a 2002 firehawk into a 94 camaro.
i just need some insight as to what is involved. do i have to replace the k-member, how is the wiring harness setup etc. any info is appreciated! |
I have an LS1 k member if you need it.

K-Member and accessory bracket are what come to mind that are most important.

vin: it is not for sam, i dont know what is wrong with her lt1, if anything at all, besides the rear. i am taking the motor from her firehawk though.
and i may need the k-member, i have to check out the condition of the one from the donor car because it was hit on the front end. |
I think new springs cause the motor will be lighter. Not sure though.

im going to check out this k-member, the only thing it LOOKS like it needs is maybe the lower a-arm and definitely needs a tie rod end.
and since we are swapping the entire k-member/engine/trans, can't i just keep the springs in there. |

I suppose that would mean LS1 style brakes in the back too, right?

Search on tech theres alot of info on this, I could also ask the guy who did mine.
|
I was looking into doing this, but sold the project to my brother before I got around to finishing it.
At minimum, you would need a K member & LS1 steering rack and linkage. Speartech can modify the engine harness to be plug and play in an LT1 car. Also, it would be a good idea to upgrade the fuel pump. You can keep the LT1 fuel system if you use a corvette fuel presure regulator. That gets you out of changing to an LS1 fuel system. Tech has a lot of information on this swap. Just do a search, and you'll come up with a lot of information. |
yup. thanks guys. i found a LOT of info on tech, pretty much everything i need hopefully.

doug give sick speed performance a call. they swapped a 2000 ls1 into my 94 chassis. Need kemember and a modified ecu.

Wouldn't running LS1 ABS system require a 4 channel rear?
|
you could probably save the lt1 style abs...at that point you might have to modify the harness
|
Ah yea, I guess they are separate computers right?
|
well this car is getting a complete drivetrain swap motor/trans/and rear.
|
We have done a few of thes swaps heres the run down of everything that neeeds to be changed. You can have your stock LSx wiring harness modified so its a direct plug in to the 94 body hanress Spertech does this for 500$ well worh it. The fuel systems are the same just run a regulator to set you fuel presure. You will f course need a ls k member. The onethng that wont work is the gasg gauge you will need to buy a autolite gauge. Also the stock LS1 air box system will NOT clear a lt1 hood you will need to run a lt1 style system
