title jumping?
 

i bought this car from a private dealer, who apparently registered the vehicle but never paid the tax on it. it says on the title "do not register-tax uinpaid" and of course i didnt see it untill the dmv pointed it out.

has anyone ever hear of this or delt with this before?

yes. now, make sure they remove it after you pay the tax on it. that's the real bitch. every year i go up to renew the plates on the '69, i usually have to wait an additional 20 minutes or so until they cal a regional DMV, the ones with the real computers. to find out that the tax has been paid and they can register the vehicle. and every time i ask, will this happen again the next time? and they say no... we fixed it...

apparently the title has to be reassigned to me. idk how this works, i called the dealer where the guy got the car from and they have to call me back still but i dont know whats going on and im JUST A LITTLE pissed off

edit: the guy i bought the car from never paid tax on the car,but somehow got it registered in PA where it came from. weird??
