paint
is it true that macco does crappy prep but good paint, i was talking to a guy who knows a dude who works there and he says if u wetsand, prep and tape yourself the paint itself isnt bad..don't think im headed to macco anytime soon but thats just what i heard
what do you think? |
I had a car painted by Maaco in the 80s. It was all prepped...just needed primer and paint. They painted it all right...but no primer was added. I found out later because the guy I sold it to chipped the paint...saw all the work under it.
That's just wrong... SteveO |
SOME Maacos can do a decent job but you need to do most of the prep work yourself and you will pay much more than the $199 Ambassador paint job. Most of their stuff is a scuff-and-spray or something along those lines. Visible panels only- no door jambs or anything like that.

It all depends if they feel like working that day lol.... just an fyi they use Sherwin Williams paint.... bottom of the line paint
|
It all depends on what Maaco you go to...Most like to prep the car themselves, mines going in Friday ill post pics when I get it back.

Maybe I was unclear. If you want a nice job, you need to do a lot of the prep work yourself.
