Greatest deal EVER!!!!

First off, it's been a while since I postd. I'm computer illiterate, adn to make a long story short I "accidentally" erased my harddrive :( Oh well, anywho, As many of you know i burnt out my 3.8 in my Camaro, adn have been in the market for a 3.8, adn for a T5, cause I didn't want to return to the Auto because I road race. Well I looked around on here, LS1 tech, and eBay, and motors are expensive and Highmmileage too (150K+) and T5 trans were goingo fr 400 without any accessories. I had 1 guy say he'd sell me one for 200, but it would cost 250 to ship. So on a whim I decide to go to our local junkyard to see what they might have for 3.8's, see what I can rebuild, when out of my eye I see something red....its a 98 Camaro, clean, I mean oyu could of eaten off of it. apparently the car rear ended someone, and cracked th ebumper, fenders, adn bent the hood. Score!!!!!, so then I quickly run to see if it's 5 speed or auto... DOUBLE SCORE!!!! I was freaking out so badly because I had to work that day, adn I had no tools with me. So I sent my friend out there 9am sharp today to start takign it out. I got there at 2:30 and most of the motor and trans is undone. before 5 the motor is out and ready to go in the back of my truck. I got the motor/trans still together, with a spare top end adn heads anda few sensros for only 388, not bad considering I paid 12 dollars less then what it would cost to just buy trans without the clutch and accessories. So now the task of delicatly disassembling the Trans and motors top end and replacing gaskets and such ,adn having this thing running by late May/early June. Go me, even if it is V6, im damn happy.

Just curious if you got that at dirkes? When I was there last week I saw a red 98 or so camaro with a 5 speed trans. That car was filled with dry dog food all over the insides

Blacdout96 03-18-2009 08:58 PM

I didnt see dry dog food in there , but yeah it was a 98 red one,m guess someone got hungry ourt there lol. i still gotta go back for th epedal assembly and the seat rails so I can try to set up my racing seats on it. The set i have noe on my car is power and are a little too high for the seat. Aslo FYI, it has LS1 brakes, so if anyones is lookign for a set, there ya go!!

where is this place at?

Blacdout96 03-18-2009 10:38 PM

Im not sure exactly what town it is, but its on the black horse pike (rt.40) and its right next to weymoth road. I gotta go back fpr a few things, adn maybe ill go for the spindles, only cause its less material to cut away for my Corvette brakes, but I know I need the pedal assembly, adn the seat guides. The place actually has good stuff. theres a third gen with a T5 there ( 2.8 tho) Cadillac's with 4.6 Northstars, adn other cars.

bobb1589 03-18-2009 11:13 PM

It looked like someone spilled a giant bag of dry dog food inside the car.It was all over the insides on the floor.Im pretty sure I saw that car right after it went out as they were putting new cars in that row while I was there.I also got some stuff from that red 91 RS.The white 2.8 3rd gen with the T-5 has been there for awhile
