Dodge Viper goes 10's STOCK

Stock 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 Convertible runs 10’s

March 24th, 2009

Most would agree that the latest Dodge Viper with its dyno proven 600+ HP and 3,450 curb weight “should” be able to run 10’s in the 1/4 mile while still in stock form. Although there have been many attempts that have come close, nobody had cracked into the 10’s in a bone stock Viper until now.

Jamie Furman took his brand new 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 convertible with just 100 miles on the odometer out to Maryland International Raceway during a private track rental to give it a try. After 4 runs in the very low 11’s, he ended up running a 10.92 @ 129.79 MPH with a 1.76 60′ time. Weather was in the 50’s for the run with a Density Altitude (DA) of around -915 feet.

Jamie’s previous attempts at a 10 second stock Viper pass was done ins his new 2009 Viper ACR back in October 2008 running an 11.07 @ 129.8 MPH. By looking at the timeslips, it looks like either Viper can make it into the 10’s with the proper launch, shifting and weather. Congrats to Jamie for a great record breaking run.

Daaaayum!

DevilDougWS6 03-28-2009 02:50 PM

nice. about time. i think with 600hp to the wheels anything should be able to do better than 10s. barely a 10 second run at that.

Tsar 03-28-2009 02:55 PM

In before everyone hates on dodge for whatever reason.

Funny if sub it with some GM car it would be one hell of a nutswinging party.

NJSPEEDER 03-28-2009 03:00 PM

Damn! I wanna see what it does on a tire, it may go 9's

DevilDougWS6 03-28-2009 03:07 PM

seems they got the driver mod down....definitely run it on some drs.....or dare i say it....SLICKS

most guys buy vipers to look snobby and rich...this guys beats his up lol

baddest434 03-28-2009 03:11 PM

nice run! talk about hot lapping, look at the times on the last 2 timeslips:rofl:

Featherburner 03-28-2009 03:19 PM

damn, didn't even notice that. Looks like he took 3 passes, went and got lunch and came back with a launch idea that worked.

Wow and it only took 100+HP more then a Z06 which there are now 2 that have gone 10's on stock tires. Still friggin impressive though, trap speed is sick!

sweetbmxrider 03-28-2009 03:59 PM

that trap speed is ridic. sick though.

aren't you still supposed to be breaking in the engine with only 100 miles on the odometer? or do they come broken in already?

98tadriver 03-28-2009 05:00 PM

it will get faster once its broken in and loosened up a lil. he only cut a 60' that was .07 faster than my 60' and i was on 245's. what do vipers come with? 345's? he couldve shifted faster too

DevilDougWS6 03-28-2009 05:25 PM

maybe if he had a faceplated t56 he could shift like you ron.

Frosty 03-28-2009 05:52 PM

Wow, cool...they accomplished what the Z06 did with less power..:woot:

It's about time, the drive was pretty consistent.

its not the transmission, its the driver ;) faceplated just saves me the trouble of replacing synchros. i have older videos with the stock t56s and me in action

If I were watching runs 3 and 4, I would have been yelling "That light ain't gettin any greener!!"

Any particular reason he was waiting?

Even on my first and only track day in my Iroc I was cutting < .1 and even one .003 leaving on 3rd yellow.

BigAls87Z28 03-29-2009 01:03 AM

Mehhh.....how exactly is a 2008 a "New" car? Its 2 model years old now. Sitting on lots much?

NJ Torque 03-29-2009 01:34 AM

Not so impressed.

because if your not racing a car next to you it doesn't matter at all?

It's March 2009, so a 2008 model is not exactly an outdated piece.

Reaction times don't effect ET, so if you are only there to try to get a perfect run there is no reason to rush around at the tree.

Ian 03-29-2009 01:42 AM

hell of a lot faster than my car! not sure if it sounds better than my car though
