So, I ordered a new beater - I'm not joking this time

So, I'm still recovering from the spinal fusion (per the doctor, my recovery time seems to be longer than 9 months) and my neck/ back can't handle the Trans Am anymore.

I've put maybe a couple hundred miles on it since September and don't forsee much driving in that car.

The hyundai elantra is approaching 150,000 miles - still runs strong but I want more out of a car as kids will be coming and we need uber safety

I need a car with soft suspension, big, safe, powerful, all wheel drive, and automatic

I've been looking at new cars and had narrowed it down to a Dodge Charger R/T AWD.

Well, yesterday at work they dropped the lease prices on the C-Class so I odered one.

So, I'm waiting for my 2009 Mercedes-Benz C-300 4-Matic
V6
228 HP
221 TQ
7 speed
0-60 in 7.1 seconds
Options:
Heated front seats
Sirius Sat Radio
Power drivers seat and steering column w/ memory
auto dimming mirror
compass in rearview mirror
rain sensing wipers
garage door opener
teleaid

Funny thing is, I don't know the color. I said I don't care what color. I did the same thing when I ordered the ML320 Bluetec

So, once the car arrives...... I will be looking to sell both the Trans Am and the Elantra :( I'm not happy about it but the accident was a major impact on my neck/ back and I need to be safe for a while.

Congrats on the new purchase, sorry to hear you're still having issues. :(

i feel for you. did he give you an approximate recovery time up front and now is saying it will be longer? if so, do what you are supposed to do. i know it sucks to do any kind of therapy while you are still having pain from the surgery, but if you don't follow the Dr's recommendations you might never heal completely. find your list of Dos and Don'ts and use it like a bible. memorize every single item and do or don't do it, without fail.

the first year following surgery is the most critical to pay attention to.

p.s. nice beater.

CamaroGirlie 04-09-2009 12:50 PM

Good luck with the back problem....ive had them for years my self....gotta love the percocets tho...and what do you mean you changed your mind from a charger r/t to a mercedes?????? come on, thats preposterous!!! Just kidding, im biased lol

BigAls87Z28 04-09-2009 01:03 PM

I'll answer for him :) Yeah, the doctor did lengthen the expected recovery time. But the doctor did lift all restrictions, except he can't drag race and he can't go ATV riding. So basically all restrictions within reason. And two more weeks of therapy, and then he'll be on a home program. But the doctor is saying another 9 to 12 months from now...where before it was about 6 to 8 months from the surgery. Surgery itself was Dec 16.

And now we get to fight over which Mercedes we'll drive that day. lol.

The new C-Class MB's are amazing cars with excellent quality. I was impressed with all of the features and engineering input when I test drove a 6speed C300. When he opened the hood, I thought the struts were broken because the hood opened nearly straight vertical. I just wish the C350 were in a 6speed manual. enjoy!

If it was all wheel drive I would consider it strongly.

It meets almost all my needs - HP, TQ, handling, etc.

We get ALOT of snow where I live and there are lots of hills and twisty roads - if I had a 400 HP car I would get dead..... and I don't want that.

Good thing it has only 361hp....

cdacda13 04-09-2009 10:08 PM

Actually, RWD and West Milford don't get along that well. So AWD is nice to have an in the area.

Do you jerk off to GM's insignia every night or something? Seriously man...you need to go work for them or something, lol.

BigAls87Z28 04-10-2009 01:37 AM

It would be a joke. I think at this point, its expected from me.
When I suggest another car, people are amazed that I know cars outside of GM's stable.
Thoes people are stupid.

IMO, the C class is a good car, but Id be in a 3 series long before the C class.

Savage_Messiah 04-10-2009 02:50 AM

Sorry to hear about the further problems James... nice beater tho!

Right now, people may be amazed. That is, those of us who don't know that you're almost as much of a closet BMW fanboy as you are an open GM fanboy

BigAls87Z28 04-10-2009 02:53 AM

Werd. I want a 335i coupe in the worst way. But for over a 10 grand more then a SS....not worth it.

Squirrel 04-10-2009 03:57 AM
