As far as I know to go wheeling at that state park we were at you have to have a registered and insured bike to go riding there. But if anyone wants to do some quading and dirtbiking and knows a good place I'd definitely be in for it. I'm thinking of buying a used yamaha 250

Pretty sure you gotta have the full 9 yards, pretty much be able to legally ride your bike in from the street and onto the trails. Getting the motorcycle permit and test is cake though!
|
you dont need a motorcycle license to ride a quad or dirt bike
|
Alex, I'm installing new front wheel bearings and front axle U-joints as soon as they come in (hopefully tomorrow), and I'm ordering my new shocks tonight. As soon as they come in and go on, I'll be all set :)

you need registration, you do not NEED a motorcycle license and you do not NEED to be able to ride off the street
|
To ride a dirtbike in Wharton you need a motorcycle liscense, the bike needs to be registered and insured most of the dirt roads back there are considered state roads so on pavement or on a dirt road is considered the same
|
soooo umm how do kids ride the 50s behind their dads?

so you want a dual sport bike, not a dirt bike.
dirt bikes are not street legal. |
Maybe I just haven't seen enough of what Wharton has to offer, but I would think it would be rather boring terrain-wise for anyone on a bike. Most of the trails are just flat dirt roads, and most of the spots that would present a challenge to any of us in a truck would stop bikes in their tracks.
