Cars running a little rough..

after the torque converter install. Think I need a tune. What do you guys think?

NJ Torque 04-29-2009 03:31 PM

Describe "rough"

It may buck under accel or not want to shift correctly...

So you are running the 3600 TC on the stock tune? And now its running rough?

LTb1ow 04-29-2009 05:37 PM

Did you install a tranny cooler?

Shift points re adjusted for the 3600?

MonmouthCtyAntz 04-29-2009 06:03 PM

Car runs fine moving. Stll trying to get a feel for the stall but it seems to be working great w/ the 342's..but when in park the idle is off, kinda sounds like it going to die(but doesnt). I have the tranny cooler and its getting installed asap. Just sounds like it needs a tune to me.

While you did the Converter swap did you accidentally knock off any spark plug wires? I would check all the plug wires first then get a tune.

LTb1ow 05-03-2009 12:35 PM

Or better yet, maybe get it tuned to the PCM knows when to shift.....

Car oddly seems to be running alot better after I swapped my dirty stock tb for the P&P one. Feels like i picked up 20 hp no bs. The stocker was gunked up w/ alot of crap. Yea im going to have js throw in a cooler thursday then get a chummma tune.

Who ported the throttle body? Was it ported all the way through?

The car should still run normal with a 3600.

Not having cooler wouldn't make it "run rough" neither would not adjusting the shift points. I ran a yank SS4000 in my 01 when it was an a4 and it ran awsome with the stock shift points. The only thing I can think of is the converter not being seated correctly when installed. However, I see you have since swapped throttle body's and have seen improvement.

Yea I spoke to a few guys before installing the tc and I was told that it should be fine w/ the stock tune..The 3600 seems to be working fine w/ the cars shift points. As for the P&P throttle body I picked it up used off of ls1tech and was simply told it was professionally done, I think he also bought it used and never found out.

If theres a big gap between the blade and the outside of the body then that will cause you to have an idling problem since its allowing more air to come in and somebody didnt do the port correctly.

The off idle started before I put the p&p tb on. These cars are like woman its always something lol. Not too worried about it car seems to be running fine. Im bringing the car to js tommorow to install a tranny cooler. Ill have him take her around the block and see what he thinks.
